First of all, we love the art style that Prison Architect and RimWorld used in their game. We wish there was a RPG game with this type of style, so this's one of the reasons why we chose this style. Another reason is that, although we also like 3D and Pixel, but our team is too small (only 3 people) and we don't have enough manpower to make the game in other art styles. This Prison Architect or RimWorld alike style is relatively easier and it saves lots of work for us. Most importantly, we want to put our main focus on the gameplay and features of our game.

In addition, this style of art is actually originated from the 8-bit games, and I think it's more like an artistic style, rather than an art with copyright nature. We guarantee that we didn't steal or use any asset from RimWorld, and we have put a lot of time and heart on details of every item, from texture to perspective. If you can go into our game, you will see the details and differences, and you will feel the love we put into our game.

We really hope you can give our game a try, and we are looking forward to hear your suggestions and feedbacks.

Thanks! :)

Although Keplerth looks like "Prison Architect" and "RimWorld", but our game has lots of different features compared to these two. Because we only have three people in our team, and this RimWorld alike style is simpler for us compared to other styles (such as 3D and Pixel). We would like to focus and spend more time on contents and features of the game.

That would explain why the stone textures look exactly like the ones in Rimworld. Hopefully the game will be fun since it looks interesting.

I hope you do something that was lacking in RimWorld. If you are doing an RPG and not a strategy, then there is a good option for a cooperative game. I think your idea will easily break out into the top1, the main thing is to get a little padded up and u will swim in the money.
I dreamed of playing RPG as RimWorld, not strategy. I believe in you

You'll probably want to change those textures. Because of the similarity between them and the ones used in RimWorld, a lot of people will just assume that this is a copy of that. Personally I went from "this looks interesting" to "♥♥♥♥ that" the moment I saw that the same textures were used.
Just a thought.

I have personally grown fond of the textures used here, and it is the reason I clicked on the game in the first place. I am staying because it sounds interesting. Even though the survival genre is fairly played out due to massive flood of bad survival games out there picking the corpse clean I still have my eye on this game. The art work alone has my interest, and hopefully the game play will fill the void in the survival genre that I am looking for. I say make the game you wanna play, enjoy the process and the accomplishment, and some of the consumers will feel the love put into your work and it will bring many hours of worthwhile entertainment. I will be a purchase day one for sure. See you there!

You even kept the same textures.
The ripoff is not even slightly hidden.
Impressive.

"muhtextures"

lmao you people crack me up.

The gameplay looks closer to Terraria than Rimworld in my opinion according to the trailer. What i like about this graphic style is how easily you can read what's going on. This engine is so linked to PA & Rimworld that people may think it's a ripoff whereas when it's unreal engine, well... Good luck devs, the game looks really promising.

If a vaguely remeber the beutiful gem Tynan Sylvester made was originaly called a Prison Arch ripoff now its something beutiful. i hope to that this game becomes something good. i always get a kick out of lil indi games smashing AAA games and big companies in sales. [points at EA]

I have both games, and no, this is not Rimworld. It is a really diffrent game, and the assets are not the same as in Rimworld. I love both, hope for more content. :abs_happy:

If you put "a lot of time and heart" in the details? Why does everything look like it's the assets directly copied and then drawn a line over it?

Like, I get it, you can have a similar looking game that has very different mechanics under the hood. But let's take full context.

Rimworld originally started out with the Prison Architect artstyle/assets having asked their permission and intending a lot of it as a placeholder. Now, I haven't kept up with development and plans to know how much has changed there.

But when your game looks like a 1:1 copy and you actually have to take effort to see the actual differences I can't agree on the assessment that it's "an artstyle".

Which honestly is just asking for trouble you can ill afford BECAUSE you're a small studio. Even if the terrain and building textures etc form a backdrop for the mechanics you actually intend to work on.

Right now it doesn't seem like you put in "a lot of time and heart" at all, but straight up copied the assets - it's done before right, so that means it's allowed! - to cut corners and save "a lot of time and money" instead. Hardly the impression you want to make coming into a saturated market filled with clones and ripoffs that are being dropped after a number of months because they don't make enough money to sustain development long-term.

Then leaving everyone who has given you a chance with a broken husk of a game.

----

Seeing is believing, but I'd strongly recommend people hold off and watch development BEFORE burning themselves because the development is cancelled before the game is actually finished.

Hopefully development goes well and the game proves to meet its potential.

But they're off to a poor start given what they're be compared to. And I'm not just talking the Rimworld/Prison Architect situation. But all clones and look-a-likes.

i feel people are probably gonna say the same thing about https://store.steampowered.com/app/670820/Civitatem/ another game that looks slightly similar to RimWorld, it's just going to become a common art style we see a lot like with the minecraft games and voxel blocks.
