Space Invaders Extreme bug reporting
Welcome to the community forum for Space Invaders Extreme. In this thread you’ll find FAQs and Known issues. If you need official support, please contact us via the link below.

For more information on Space Invaders Extreme, please visit the official website here[www.taito.com].

Known Issues
  1. Crash at result screen/upon Give Up
The logs we've received suggest an outdated Intel driver: please update to the latest driver (either from the PC manufacturer's homepage or Intel's)
  2. The boss of 2B sometimes doubles
See dtnc21 & Celery's posts below. Cause seems to be "Must've had something to do with managing to hit one of the weak spots instantly on the third phase before hitting any of the other pieces. Probably the right one." (Thanks dtnc21).

Where to get official support
For official support, please contact games@degica.com directly with the game title in the subject.

If you are seeking technical support and none of the steps below have worked for you, send us an email and provide the following:
  • Your system specs (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS).
  • GPU driver version used. If you have multiple GPUs (for example in a laptop) please provide information for both.
  • Please provide clear information on what exactly happens when trying to play the game on your machine. Do you manage to get into the launcher or does your issue already happen before that? Does the game always crash at a specific point in the game, or randomly after a certain time?

First Things to Check
  1. Do the usual - Install the latest Windows Updates and install the latest drivers for your graphics card/chipset.
  2. Please keep in mind the minimum requirements for the game found on the store page.
  3. Please disable any additional software that might be getting in the way.
Various virus scanners are known to be problematic with a lot of games, so please try disabling them temporarily to see if it solves your problem.
  4. If you are running the game activated via Steam, please verify all files are present on your PC correctly. Steam offers convenient functionality to verify your local files. Right Click on the game in your Steam game library, select 'Properties' > Select the 'Local Files' Tab, and then select 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache'. Steam will verify all your files and will re-download any required in cases there are corruptions.
  5. Games Do Not Run After ‘Preparing to Launch’

Weird FPS behavior
There's something visually wrong with the game... with lots of particles on screen it seems to drop some FPS but it doesn't.

Thing is I tracked my FPS with the Steam FPS counter and it doesn't drop a single frame (just in the loading screens, it goes from 60 to 50)

I've found that if I turn of the background movie, the game works just fine.

GTX 1070 BTW

Please mail us with a video if possible (mail address is above).
Edit: please also turn on Steam FPS counter so we can see how low it drops.

It seems that there could be a issue with the combination of integrated graphics and high resolution. I've been able to recreate the crash when playing in fullscreen. This is on an Surface Pro 4 i7 device running Windows 10 build 16299.248. The monitor is plugged as an external over display port and runs in 3440x1440

It runs fine at the start but after about 10 minutes in-game, the whole game freezes up with the lasts sound second looping and freezing the whole OS. Only way to get out is by holding the power button. When playing in windowed mode at 1920x1080 and even maximized to 3440x1440, there's no crash whatsoever and it works perfectly fine.

For completion sake here's my output_log.txt contents here[0bin.net]

Also a smal typo: Stage 3-C music title is Shatte instead of Shatter

Thanks for the report and sorry for the issues.
Please email us at games@degica so we can better respond in future.

Could you try disabling this "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service"? It may be unrelated, but the symptoms suggest it may be the cause.

Will get that typo fixed too, thanks!

Hi, thanks for the log, but it does not seem to include any errors.

Could you please try the following:
-> Does the game still freeze your PC if you play it fullscreen after setting your desktop to a lower resolution ?
-> Does task manager gives any indication about the freeze conditions (memory / processor usage)
-> Does setting the movies to OFF change anything ?

Thanks

Thanks guys for asking. I didn't send an E-Mail as it's only my secondary PC - Surface Pro - that had this issue. I was also able to recreate the freeze and stop the crashing by using windowed mode so I figured maybe is somebody has the same issue they could try my workaround. I mainly play it on my other PC which works perfectly fine.

Just to keep you guys informed, I tried out with v1.0.1 but I couldn't recreate the crash anymore. I have tried doing the same thing again to make it freeze but instead I was able to normally finish a level without any crashes - regardless if the service is turned on or off and on resolution 3440x1440 over display port.

I'll keep you guys posted if this issue somehow comes back up so that I can try your tips and find a solution if it persists.

[Edit] I just want to report back on that. It seems like I was a bit too fast with guessing what made my tablet crash. I never had the game crash on me again and instead the same freeze actually happened while I was watching a YouTube video once. So it wasn't the game's fault at all, it was just accelerated by it. Seeing as I never had this issue before now, I assumed it was the game. Sorry!

Good to know it wasn't the game, but sorry to hear about your PC!

Hello,

I've been trying to launch Space Invaders Extreme and either it blocks on the white screen with the red TAITO logo on it, or it keeps on making the message "you have to be connected to Steam to be able to play" and resets, even though I AM connected.

I've been able to play three sessions since my day one buying of SIE, once on the first day, and twice on the 1.02 version.
I haven't been able to launch the game for two days now...

I don't know if it is a problem on my account (other titles work seem to work just fine), and would like to know if other people have the same problem.

I play on a PC with Windows 10 installed.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Sorry to hear about the problems you're having.
If you're online, the game should work: could you give me some more info about your internet connection (up/down speed, type etc) and also about your PC.

I once fought two second phases of the 3-B Boss. Pretty sure that wasn't supposed to happen!

Er... lucky you?
Can you remember what happened leading up to this/reproduce it?
From memory, 5B consists of
1) Two invaders circling, then combining into
2) One boss invader (with two weak spots), which splits into
3) Four invaders, that join together into
4) One boss invader (with four weak points)
It looks like you got double the number of invaders at 3) and then 4 of them joined to form 4) leaving 4 stil circling?
dtnc21 Mar 2, 2018 @ 7:00am
Yeah, pretty much. Must've had something to do with managing to hit one of the weak spots instantly on the third phase before hitting any of the other pieces. Probably the right one.

Making the second set all red has them playing the animation of them combining before they just disappear.

My issue is that the game seems to run at 61 fps!. The steam FPS counter doesn't show up. So i used the overlay on Nivdia Geforce Experience for it's FPS counter which shows a steady 61fps. Everything seems out of sync, if you watch the scrolling invaders on the title screen you will see the scrolling stutter presumably due to the fps being above 60.
I have tried various combinations of vsync and tripple buffering but no success.
You would think in the year 2018 mankind would have evolved to the point were they can make a bleedin' 30 odd year old game work properly but alas we have de- evolved. Will be refunding.

Apologies for the delay. We're looking to fix this alongside the next update (which we don't have a date for quote yet, sorry!).

Sorry about the problem and thanks for the report, but it's difficult to help if you've refunded the game. Issues with specific setups are always going to be a problem with PC games and we'd like to help where possible.
