If you're using cheat engine or WEMOD or whatever and not having it connect directly to this game to do it's injection, it will not interfere with this game. I WOULD make sure they're closed before opening the game and connecting to a server just to be safe. If the Devs are actually scanning your computer for all files, (which they aren't) they'd be committing a pretty massive privacy violation and would probably be facing some sort of class action in the future.
EDIT: The reason I say to make sure it isn't running is that some anticheats, not sure if Phasmos is one of them, does do runtime scans to see what's running on you're computer at the time the scan is run. Keyword: Running. if it's not running the scan won't pick it up as it's not possible for it to be interacting with the game at all. Please do not confuse this will file edits which will always be detected by most anticheats.
Overwolf is a MSI program that you probably have installed if you have an MSI motherboard or prebuilt.
EDIT: If you do have overwolf and you do find it running, now might be a great time for you to research startup programs and see how many you have that you don't want running at startup so you can fix that issue which will likely see your computer running better overall.
Sometimes a full reinstall is the way to go.
they're not scanning for anything, they asked for a copy of my logfile at the time of to clear that confusion up, i did leave my computer up from last night when i was playing ff7 crisis core with the wemod so it may have still been open from that (burried in my secondary monitor behind all my dnd stuff since i was multitasking last night and this morning), i just didn't want people to think the devs were mad for no reason. (if it being open isn't enough then im more concerned wemod was doing stuff in the background but its gone now for good regardless of what happens to me in this game)
glad to know reinstalling the game fixed it though for the others.
Understandable, it's easy to forgot you have a program like that open. To anyone else reading this, WEMOD in particular will stay open even if you close it with the X on the top right of the app. You need to open your hidden icon tab on the right hand side (default) of the task bar right click on the WEMOD icon and close it. I would also recommend checking that it's closed by looking for it in the task manager. If you don't do that and start a multiplayer game after having WEMOD or similar open, you're asking to be banned. Might be a good idea to make sure you don't have a program like that set to run at start up.
Literally the reason I commented what worked for me. Not a fan of blind hackusations.
