Black screen when loading up

So for a month I haven't been able to play. I load in a black screen but I can hear myself walk and the audio. It started with the buildings not loading and then it devolved into what it is now. I tried to go into steam apps in my pc, to load it up that way, I did get it to load but it couldn't connect to my steam profile. Is this a load issue, texture issue, or a account connection issue? I'm at a loss now.

just updated and STILL not working, looks like i'm not getting the Christmas trophy since I haven't been able to play now for over a month smh.

Make sure you are not forcing DirectX 10 as we no longer support it.

Alright I did a bunch of things and managed to fix it. I do see why some people get stuck. You saying that helped me fix a buddies game. FIX: Right click phas on your library. Go to properties and then general. At the bottom it'll say something like force and then have a number. Change the 10 to an 11. It should work
