So this only impacted a 5-10 frame difference for me but turning off the Audio Streaming option on the virtual desktop streamer. Obviously this only works if you plan on using headphones from your computer instead of your rift, in my case it worked out good with my wireless headset.
If you could send me a screenshot of your Phasmophobia graphics settings or write them down manually on here that would help a lot with getting to the bottom of this. Also, what latency are you getting in-game when your doing a job?
I’ve done it with all graphics settings at their lowest and highest, I’m thinking it’s Steam VR for me, as I launched Walking Dead Saints and Sinners through Steam VR and got FPS drops, but when I launch it directly from the Oculus app and bypass SteamVR it ran perfectly :/
The ABSOLUTE MINIMUM you need for VR is 1080, which wouldn't be that fast, anyway. And 2060 is worse than 1080 by around 10%-30%, depending on the place it is used at.
I'm pretty sure that vga is struggling with Phasmo on desktop, so trying to play it in VR would be even worse.
And I have some doubts on the CPU. I'm not the AMD guy, but I have a suspicion, that a single-core performance of that model might not be "that decent to play VR whatsoever". Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Now, I had stutters as well, but nowhere near as bad as you do. The stutters happen from time to time for a second or two, but the FPS go straight back up afterwards. I'm running a weaker cpu and a weaker GPU.
If you've done some fiddling with SteamVR, I'd suggest reinstalling it. It helped me a bit.
Most people also find useful setting the priority of OVRServer in your processes to High, but avoid Real-time, since it can destabilize your system in rare cases.
Also try lowering the in-game settings, especially the resolution, so it doesn't have to render twice, your system resources will thank you.
By the way, if anything is the culprit, it's probably the CPU reaching it's performance, or thermal limit.
Also, check the drivers. The most recent NVidia drivers dealt with the issue of stuttering in VR games. It's not completely fixed, but as long as you avoid using benchmarking tools to monitor your game performance, for example MSI Afterburner, or probably fpsVR, you should be good to go.
Hopefully I helped :)
Thanks for the reply, I do plan on upgrading the 2060 but obviously the current GPU situation in the market isn't ideal lol
Running Phasmophobia in desktop mode at 1440p 144hz I get 150-230fps.
It's worth noting that performance in VR in the first lobby in the game is perfect, but as soon as I create/join a private game lobby the framerate instantly drops to 40-60, even if i'm the only one in the room. That performance follows through into the match itself.
