Game doesn't even Start...
i5-3570k
8gb ram
1080ti
Nvidia Drivers 398.82

My game doesn't even start, anyone got the same problem and found a workaround for it?
If i try to start the game, my screen turns black and my pc freezes completely so i need to cut the power to restart.
I tried so far, verifying gamecache, install on C (ssd) and D (hdd). Tried different Nvidia Drivers. Even completely made a fresh reinstall of my windows and it still doesn't work.

Please help me :/

Here the same. My Monitors turn black and after a few minutes the Game closes itself.
But I do not have to restart the PC.

Waiting for the 1Day Patch.............................

I have the same problem. It loads up, the screen goes black and then nothing happens. My game doesnt even close itself, it just doesnt do anything. The steam fps counter says something is happening though. Frustrated af right now.

Same here. Thought t may have been related to my triple monitors but seeing your config above it seems to make no difference. There are not enough of us (sadly) that are having this trouble and thus teh Day1 will be a while I fear... still workign on tryign to find a solution. If I do I wil post it here.

I fixed it for me. I went to steam library>right click F1 2018>properties> Local Files> Verify integrity of files.

It took a couple minutes to check files and it said 50 files could not be verified. It then deleted them and downloaded about 1 GB of the game and when I hit the play button after installation it loaded up perfectly. Hope that helps. Cheers

I fixed it for my setup / install. Not sure it will work for you but worth a try if you own a previous version of the F1 series that works on your PC.

It appears there is a slight install glitch and not all files correctly copy to where they are needed.:

I have my games files on my D:/ drive (larger drive for all games). For the most part all necessary files are saved on thsi drive.
However, for some reason, all my older versions of F1 (and all other steam) games have saved the hardware settings separately on my C:/ drive under:

C:/Users/<username>/Documents/My Games/XXX

where XXX = the name of your game folder. For last year's version it is obviously F1 2017.

The F1 2017 folder contains a sub folder: hardwaresettings ie:

C:/Users/<username>/Documents/My Games/F1 2017/hardwaresettings

In this folder are two files:
hardware_settings_config.xml
hardware_settings_info.xml

I confirmed that the F1 2017 game did not start either if I removed this folder

I thus copied the F1 2017 folder, including subfolder and files, dropped it into the My Games folder and renamed as F1 2018:

C:/Users/<username>/Documents/My Games/F1 2018/hardwaresettings

with the same two hardware settings files that were in the 2017 folder.

The game now runs without a hitch (so far).

Hope thsi helps!

I had the same problem. I checked the game file's integrity and that fixed it.

In my case I had to manually do it as the file integrity did not catch but the root cause appears to be the same.

If you have an AMD Phenom/Althon CPU see this thread over at the CM f1 game tech assist forum.

u got the same problem mate?
I seem to have found the fix that works for me... I completely resetted my BIOS and now it seems to work... strange that F1 2017 seems to run without a BIOS reset oO
