What World at War is:

We run a dedicated server. We do not use hosting by a third party like done by many tournaments. WaW has complete control over the box which is in a Tier 4 Data Center, (the best rating up-time). It is high performance and can host many different gaming platforms simultaneously. It connects into several Tier 1 Network providers, (Tier 1 are directly connected to the Internet backbone). The trans-Atlantic connectors to Europe are nearby. As such, network access with Europe is very good as well as to all of North America.

WaW started its first campaign in 2002 with people from a Day of Defeat tournament. Originally, World at War was part of the Battle for Europe gaming group, (BFE). WaW started with Battlefield 1942 and then moved to the Battlefield 1942 mod Forgotten Hope. WaW has been a major impact by spinning off other gaming groups with WaW leadership getting them started: 21CW based on the Desert Combat Mod and BFE:COD based on the original Call of Duty.

The last game platform move was to the Battlefield 2 mod Forgotten Hope 2; it started with Campaign 15. We have run some special mini-campaigns with Project Reality and Red Orchestra Two / Rising Storm. Other game servers that have been operated are ARMA III, IFA3 (Iron Front coded for ARMA III), Squad, Life Is Feudal, Rust, and ARK.

WaW will be hosting the first large scale tournament for Post Scriptum! And we need players looking to get the best team-oriented gameplay experience that it possible with this incredible game!

WaW has played over 30 campaigns. WaW members have been contributors to the overall gaming community by developing custom maps, conversions, modifications, and models. The WaW server runs tools used to support the developments.

Please contribute today. Work on new activity has just started; no dates yet. It should include many of the things with which we have become familiar when gaming at WaW. Teamplay, squad level play with your friends, and tactical communications. All in an immersive environment of infantry engagements, logistics, tank commanding, and close combat.

I joined this tournament many years ago and I have had some unforgettable memories playing in the epic campaigns. If you enjoy organised gameplay with a military structure you need to join up and be a part of World at Wars inaugural Post Scriptum campaign and hopefully many campaigns to follow.

Its totally free to join and play so get registered on the forums and you will be notified when enlistment starts for the Post Scriptum campaign.

I remember we had a World in Conflict event, with commentators like you see in Starcraft and Counter Strike, but this was way before twitch.tv got big.

What happens if your server reaches the max 40-40 player count? I'm assuming you will have two sides? Will you create another server for spill over?

We usually play for 12 hours, and keep score on which side wins more rounds. This means that we rotate players in and out of the battle depending on timezone and availability. We are looking to get at least 160 signups before the tournament starts.

As a player you can choose which side you want to play for and you will be put into a company for the duration of the campaign. We will host training and strategy sessions with each faction having their own closed-off forum section to organize and discuss anything game-related.

We have a rank structure and award medals and promotions to players based on their efforts, skill, squad leading and teamplay.

Wow, that sounds great. I'll be sure to register today. I like that it will go for 12 hours at a time. That way I know I can get at least 4 hours a day on my work days.
Be interesting to hear the numbers for what side the players state a preference for (Axis or Allies), should give a good idea of what the player population is going to be like post release.

We will keep both sides balanced, but everyone can have their first pick and we hope to accomodate player preference as much as possible.
Good to see some old names coming back and new ones enlisting. Should be a great campaign.
The campaign is set for 5 battles, meaning 5 times 12 hour battles on a Saturday
Sounds interesting and promising so I just might sign up for it...12h non stop playing in campaign is too hardcore though, or can you play in 2-3 hour intervals then come back for more inside those 12h windows?!?
