About CSGo:

First of all, fps in menu and in game can be set different, normally in menu it's 120fps, and in game it's other number. I recommend set same FPS in each place cause in game fps drops are affected by this when you are killed or when you select weapons...for example I recommend same numbers:

fps_max 200
fps_max_menu 200

Example:

This is causing "frame" drop while playing (set same fps_max_menu avoid this)

- Don't use any program like msi afterburner, I have noticed a lot of spikes, stuttering, etc..don't use this program in the background. Use Fraps to show FPS or command console cl_showfps 1 (to activate) or 0 (deactivate). You will see game smoother than before.

- Then I had lower fps while x360 pad was plugged, fps unstable a lot. Unplug it.

- Add CSGO.exe to game profile in control panel an set all by default less

CUDA-GPU ->select your card
triple buffering -> Off
vertical vsync -> use 3d application setting

- My settings in Game Menu

Updated INFO

Today I've played some rounds in CSGo in many differents situations (Time to play I said to myself). My setup it's up.

My conclusion by now It's nothing goes bad at all (at least looking other tests done by people in other webs comparing frames with 770, 290x or 780ti)

If I do a "timedemo test1" (info up the post) my max. FPS without bots/other players/ping problems; it's 530/550. It's same mark disabling audio device or others components. It's obvious that never, playing online and with opponents I could arrive to those max. numbers (550)

Where FPS are affected by massive drops are in Deathmatch and depending of the number of players and "bots". (My ping most of time has been 100ms. (I know, It's a ♥♥♥♥))

Situations:

- DM in an "aim" medium map: 10vs10 (6 bots in) I could play with stable +/-450fps lowering sometimes to 420.

- DM in NUKE 7vs7 -> stable at +/-300fps and some drops to 250 (fps_max 300)

- DM in NUKE 10VS10 -> stable at +/-250fps and some drops to 220 (fps_max 250)

- Casual bomb in DUST2 5vs5 -> stable at 300 (no drops) (fps_max 300) It could arrive to 350 maybe.

- Casual bomb in DUST2 10vs10 -> Between 300-230 (fps_max 300)

So, less players more stable FPS. Valve engine.

Comment anything if you want.

Hope this can be useful.
Cya!

Hi man, you can problably help me to get stable fps with my Setup

I've got exactly the same system than you (I5 3570k @ 4.0Ghz and GTX 970 Asus) but i can't get stable FPS with my setup.

My fps goes from 150 to 270 but i stutter a lot.

I tried every fix i found on internet (Nvidia settings, CS GO and bios settings... video.txt, config.cfg...)

My GPU is never used up to 25% ... and my CPU don't bottleneck my gpu (70% used on MM)

Can you help me to fix my problem?

Thanks a lot
