Why is the AWP so OP?

1shot in the body to kill? Really? How am I supposed to counter that? The SSG is what a real sniper is supposed to be. Land a headshot and you get a kill, not a bodyshot! And don't start me on that "AWP can kill with bodyshot IRL!" bullcrap. Grenades can kill you too IRL but in this game they don't do ♥♥♥♥ and for good reasons, because they would be OP. The AWP should cost 5000, not the SCAR.

or think it this way..why isn't the Negev 1 hit kill to body? since its like a 50 cal bullet.. Why don't they die in 1 hit to the headshot with the M4? Why didn't Valve make every gun in the game 1 hit kill like in IRL? IRL movies, 1 shot to the chest kills them..

Trying thinking it in a game sense of a way ;3

It's the weapon meant to delete one route the enemy can cross. The game has to be played around that. Abuse it yourself by having an awper or two that and outplay them. If it must be challenged, you NEED flashes or smokes to counter the awp (flash counters even harder than normal guns because they can't see it coming through the scope). Achieving a positional upper-hand is exactly what flashes and smokes are meant for.

It's super easy for people to get caught in ego, straight-up challenged the awp with your gun thinking you're so good you can definitely kill them and end up dieing instead. But challenging head-on is usually not the best possible decision.

That's my point, why does this gun have to 1shot people and be so easy to play? There's absolutely no counterplay to a guy camping down an alley with an AWP. As soon as I step in his field of view im instantly dead. For something to be fun in a game it must be fun to play WITH and to play AGAINST. Im sure it's really fun to get 55 kills with an AWP but do you think people who get 1shot by an unfair weapon are having fun?

Negev's real life bullets aren't 'like a 50 cal bullet', they fire the same 5.56 rounds the M4 does.

Also, I am pretty sure you can't break Obsidian with your fists, you at least need something like an Iron Pick.

Maybe because some of us don't like sniping but we feel pressured into doing so because every DM game get's turned into a "dank 360noscope campfest" as soon as someone pulls out an AWP.
