The setting that made the biggest difference for me was the "Display Mode". Under in-game settings -> Video -> Display Mode, the game was set to "Fullscreen Windowed" by default. Changing this to "Fullscreen" improved performance drastically for me, making the game smoother than regular csgo.
I also chose 2x MSAA and turned down the in-game settings that were on "very high" to "high".
Since I was still getting some noticeable screen tearing, I also enabled "AMD enhanced sync" in the AMD Software (there should probably be something equivalent on Nvidia). AMD chill (fps limit) set to min/max 144 fps is also enabled.
There was one more issue, when I alt+tabbed, the game would freeze.
I fixed this by editing "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<yourUserID>\730\local\cfg\cs2_video.txt" and changing the following line from "0" to "1":
I think that should open the install location of CS2 on your Mac in Finder.
Then try looking around in the folders there if you can find the executable (not sure if it is named CS2.exe, it might be different).
