I need some skyrim help here. Should I join the stormcloaks, or the imperials?

Imperials. They fight for all of Tamriel, not just Skyrm.

Also you can stay away from both...main quest doesnt require to join any of them...and the civil war is not so epic in regard of gameplay in fact

I have done them both and i found it quite unremarkable, it just seemed like you did the same thing over and over again.

I think that the civil war is epic, especially those speaches that they give before taking over any city.

Both of the factions are good, but they have their bad side like the stormcloak leader offers freedom, but he really wants the throne of Skyrim and tricks his soldiers (stormcloaks) to fight for "freedom" and the empire are really bootlickers to all rich people. So I think that they're both almost the same.

Stormcloaks if you want to be ruled by the Thalmor.

Imperials if you actually want a Skyrim to exist in the future.

Also, if you're anything but a Nord, the Stormcloaks hate you, so... And if you are a Nord, that doesn't mean you have to side with them. About 25-30% of the Imperial soldiers are Nords and the second-in-command is a Nord.

Only because THIS Skyrim is my best game - you have free choice and your choice everytime changing something. And you have to do it again to see the other choice. It's always interesting

Yeah it's worth trying out all the ways to play the game. The bread and butter of variety that is RPG :D
