What am I doing wrong?
I started the main story quest and next thing you know, I'm level 3 and I've already made my way up to the Throat of the World and doing dragon shout training or something. I was getting one hit by the Frozen Troll or something. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. I have never played any of the other TES games. I might be leveling my character incorrectly or building him incorrectly, not sure. Is there a prefered way to do the quest or a specific order? Am I supposed to do all side quests in an area before going on the main quest? Are all the side quests in Riverwood (beginning area) low level?

I'm also not sure what to build my character as. I want to have Daedric Armor and weapons AND use magic but I also like the assassin's play style. If anyone can give me guides/builds on these two topics, it'd be great. If you guys need clarification on anything, just ask!

The only way to have Deaderic Armor early in the game is to cheat.

I know that. I want to build a character so I end up with it in the end game.
That's a pretty low level for already getting up to the "Throat of the World"; also what difficulty are you playing on?

My advise would be to run around Skyrim and explore it a bit more [and kill some animals, monsters]. Then return to the "Throat" when you are around level 7-8

All you need to do then is to find the console commands for creating Deadaric Armor and Weapons on the net and then do a Player.additem whatever how many. They are in the wiki so you can just print them off.

I think he must have meant High Rothgar and I do not even think you can get there without cheating at level 3. Even on Novice. The Shout is for throat of the world is after the Thailmore Embassy and they would kill you in a few moments at level 3.

I never cheated nor intend on cheating. When you mean explore, you mean look for quests? When ever I do that, I end up doing a quest too high level for me and end up dying and having no fun.

I repeat there is no way I have ever seen and I have 1400 hours that you can get to High Rothgar at level 3. In my opinion you are confused but that is ok you will learn my friend.

After I killed the first dragon at the Westward Tower, it led me to a quest telling me to go to a city (don't remember the name), and climb the 7,000 steps.

right but you had to go through bleak falls barrow first and that will get you even on novice more than level 3.

I think you are just playing with us.

I'm level 23 and I haven't been to the throat yet, I'm doing all the side quests, then the Main, then Dawnguard, then Dragonborn.

Have you completed Bleak Barrow Falls and talked to the Jarl's wizard? Go to the Trading Store in Riverwood on the way. There are a lot of other quests you can do before going to see the greybeards.

It sounds like your rushing the game, already at the throat of the world at level 3? Skyrim isn't just about the main quest, its meant for you to stray from the main quest. Go explore, explore tombs, do quests other then the main one. When you're a higher level then you can kill that frost troll. Dont just spawn stuff with the additem command, that just takes all the fun out of the game. Im level 15 and haven't even gotten to the greybeards yet. Busy exploring.

As already mentioned, you will need to invest a good amount of time into hard perfectioning your character as you see fit,and up to a certain point level scaling will make things acceptable difficulty wise to you,and things will really hit up after you have leveled high enough.

I would not recommend attempting any of the game's main quest mor complex quests below level 15 at the minimum.

Alright, I spent an hour replaying it. I'm currently level mid of level 2, and I have the quest Speak to the Jarl of Whiterun. I also picked up a side quest in the Riverwood trader: Pick up the golden claw or something. I think I'm going to do the main quest and whenever I explore or come to a new area, I'll pick up all the side quests there.
you can barely beat a frost troll at lvl 15, you should level up more: explore, do enchantment, alchemy, forge weapons and armor, finish side quests etc.

early on try some kind of light armor (if you don't get any in quests kill few wolves and foxes and make yourself a leather armor- it's very good) rather than heavy cause you'll be running a lot (trust me), except if you are nord or redguard (then do some heavy close battle), but I would heavily recommend khajiit for new players (giant cats, can't miss them) because of their claw attacks

don't forget to use magic and potions,
run away from enemies and hit them with ranged if they are strong

avoid these at low levels: frost troll, ice wraith, sabre cat, bears and don't mess with town guards,
also: don't fight dragons yourself early on

PS. use your shouts often when you get them (especially fus ro dah- throws enemies back, low cooldown and quite a damage later, will save you from death very often)

good luck :)
