Any tips for really getting into the game?

Hi everybody,

When I played Morrowind and Oblivion, I jumped right in and had a lot of fun. With Skyrim however, I'm finding it a lot harder to really get into the game. It took me a while to realize that the 20 hours I have played so far, is just me playing the first hour of the game then restarting. Are there any tips anyone can give me to, I don't know, increase my interest, keep me from getting bored? If anyone wants to know, I enjoy playing a mage who is not afraid to start a fight with a bow, and end it with a sword. A spellsword essentially, but more branched.

well it could just be the main questline that bores you!! perhaps just go completly off the beaten track? what i like to do is gather every quest i come across and simply roam around skyrim to attend to each one, but never in order or with any particular hurry (after all, there really isnt any like, time limit for these things!!) also, mods can make it more interesting as well uvu

First get rid of your girl/boy friend, get a divorce, quit your job, leave a door open so your pets and children can forage for food when they get hungry, then take off all of your clothes, put on a replica helmet, arrange your Star Wars action figures in a tidy line and then smear Nutella all over your body...ok, that last part is optional.

I'd recommend the unofficial bug fixes straight off to help eliminate broken quests and reduce ur restarting tendancy

You don't have to follow the main quest line but I do suggest getting far enough for dragons to spawn; just follow the main story line, it won't take long. Random dragon attacks can really make things interesting.

Other than that? Just play? Game is sandbox in nature!

p.s. If I was new to skyrim, I would not suggest mods other than graphical ones until much later after you experience the game as it was intended. But up to you.

Yeah..always best to get to know the game. Trading and Hunting is a good pass time I like to do..Also, get your 'bank' up to above 5,000. Because your first Home will cost this much, and that's aside from unlocking the ability to buy it...Check out Whiterun, and check out what the woman at the Forge wants..I'm assuming you prob already know all this, so....

I had exactly the same problem with getting into the game altho mine was mainly due to glitches and quest bugs and the constant restarts were tedious, since the updates and unofficial bug fixxes alot of that has been resolved and i found it was the looting that i found tedious and boring and i had basically given up looting for the most part until i added the better looting mod and that changed everything, looting is more fun, random and profitable than ever, I would also agree with the comments of playing the game through in part atleast to get a feel for general mechanics and make sure you dragons are on the move, mods thst add lands, missions, or new npc would prob be better left until you have played game through atleast once or your not really going to notice the changes made to there fullest. But in same respect a restart every so often may not be a bad thing, play with the races and there different starting skills and class specific perk and see hat suits your style of play best

Well.. I dont know can I help you. I think Morrowind and Oblivion was harder to get into, because I had no idea what I really should do other than the main quests or just exploring the province before I checked guilds and other thing from the wiki or hearing rumors, but in Skyrim it was so easy. I have played it over 600 hours and im still playing it and I never get bored.

Oblivion and morrowind was ten times more interresting than Skyrim the story is boring, the guilds arrent good exept dark brotherhood ofcourse and the game just to god damn boring sometimes

About the "Spellsword" thing, the Imperial is the most all rounded character. But you can form any character to be good at anything. A Khajiit can own a Nord in 2 handed combat if he is skilled enough.

Get your sneak skill up and try not to kill anything unless it is the last resort. Most side quests can be done like that, collect magical stuff, become a Assasin. Relax and enjoy the vistas.
