Skyrim Nexus mods trouble
Once I download a nexus mod and extract it to steam/steamapps/common/data it doesn't work, and the files are .dds instead of the other file types there. Any suggestions on how to get the mod to work?

.dds are texture files not mod packaged files (.esp/.bsa). There should be a folder for texture files there in the skyrim data folder and if not you can create one I think, place them there. If they came with an .esp file, open the Skyrim launcher from steam and make sure that the .esp file is checked under the "data files" option. That should do it.

EDIT: Checked up on the file paths usually used for you. They'll need to be in subfolders of \common\skyrim\data\textures\ so for example armor should be \common\skyrim\data\textures\armor I'd guess. You might want to check the page you got the files from as it should have the correct file path listed, or maybe a readme packaged with them.

Use the Nexus Mod Manager to down load Nexus mods and install or extact ect.And just run yorur game through Steam if you want,i know nothing about modding and run 85 mods some how it still runs and check the data to see if the mod was added ect.
I'm having problems with it, mostly because I'm new to all of this. The Mod Manager is not working for me, any ideas why that would be?
Only use newer mods that have a "Download with NMM" option; especially since you are not familiar with modding Skyrim. With time you'll understand more and will be able to "tweak" installations if they do not work the first time.

Mods with the "Download with NMM" should install/activate to the correct installation paths without any additional tweaking from you.
