Massive random framerate
Don't you just love it when your computer lags and gives you framerate for no apparent reason? I don't, I hate it. Every time i start up Skyrim, about 2 minutes into the game, everything slows down for about 10 seconds, then smooths out and speeds the game up. I have all my settings on low, I went into all the notepad files and changed most of the display options to zero, and it still lags. If anyone out there has a fix for this problem, I would greatly appreciate an answer.

remove high res textures DLC. crappy mechanical harddrives cant pass data to your graphics cards memory quick enough. if your on a mechanical (non ssd) use default textures

I don't have high res textures. Would buying a terabyte make it better, or would that be a waste?

also remove mods that have alot of scripts, as they need to process in the background and tend to be inefficient.

especially ZOMG OVERHAUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from goat in berka aka WWF bigz brainz

No, reading speed is dependent on the disk type and not the size. SSD is very very fast compared to mechanical. There are also Hybrid which is the middle ground, faster than mechanical but cheaper (hence more size) than SSD but I don't think they are very recommended.

Ya I just hate it when I get frame rate....
In all seriousness, you seem to be using words you don't even understand

I didn't make this thread to be criticized, I made this thread to get help, so either help, or don't respond. It's your choice.

Hard to say anything useful without knowing your specs but MEMORY is usually the problem. This game likes lots of it. Bethesda seem to have plugged a few memory leaks with the legendary patch but I would recommend at least 4 gigs for normal game, 6 gigs for Hires texture pack and 8 gig if your gonna mod your world to kingdom come. If you get lag in any game you can always try switching your windows to classic mode and turning all those grrovy windows effects off - This frees up a lot of memory that windows greedily reserves for them. Next thing to check is that powersaving on your hard drives is off. Check to see whatstuff your running in the background too. Turn it all off. Also turn steams ingame feature off. not much but i hope it helps. I have crappy mechanincal hard drives, becuase my kids keep eating my hardware fund, but they seem to manage this game ok even with highres texture. Selling one of
my kids to get a solid state drive would be a bit mean..........wouldn't it?
PS people: inteligence is not the ability to express yourself but the ability to understand what other people are trying to say. nuff said.
