Skyrim lagging..

My Specs are:
i3
3.10ghz
4g ram
64 bit
nvidia geforce300 something

skyrim recommends me to play high but i play in medium, everything was going great when suddenly this morning when i booted up the pc skyrim lags, and not just skyrim but all other games too, can anyone help

More info needs; really need that GPU version, there's a big difference between a Geforce 310 and a Geforce 360

Are you on a laptop? If so, is it running on the Intel graphics?

background applications might be running. Have you installed anything recently or not restarted the computer in awhile. Just hit alt tab delete and pull up the task manager and look at the processes and the see what is using a lot of resources and close them but know which ones to close of it will lock you out of your os and will force restart.

If you're saying it ran fine before and all of a sudden starting running like a slide show check the above.

Might want to check your hardware, that sounds very much like overheat.

4GB is more than enough for your OS and skyrim.
download CPU-Z and let us know the model number of your I3 cpu and your graphics cards model number.
i suspect part of it maybe your cause your using a dual core CPU which will limit you to low or medium presets
I dunno about your graphics card, cant find no mention of a geforce360 theres a 360m but thats a mobile gpu and you said your on a desktop.
also remove antialiasing (AA) when seclecting medium or low from the skyrim launchers options menu.

So its either you need a faster graphics card for your desktop pc. A a AMD HD6770 or a NVIDIA 650gtx will run it at 1920*1200 on medium settings and cost only 60euro. or just switch the preset to low. rmember to lower antialiasing (AA) from the launcher to off.

also right click on your taskbar and open task manager goto the process's tab see if any process's are eating you resources, IE antivirus

you could also do a defrag and a CCleaner to help boost computer performance

hm..come to think of it, im having the same problem back then, but i just restart my pc and it was good as normal, but this problem had only occured now

check your temps, use coretemp program to see if your cpu or graphics card is overheating, let coretemp run and check the max temp in coretemp after gaming in skyrim for 5min. check your gpu and cpu's fans aswell make sure theyre not blocked or caked in dust.

and turn off any torrent clients while you game.
