Inventory Problem Equipping Weapons
Skyrim newbie (though played a lot of Oblivion). Level 1, leaving Riverwood after gaining my first follower. Already discovered the Hermit's Hut.

Since arrving in Riverwood I discovered a serious problem with Inventory. My inventory is still small, no where near capacity. When I open Inventory and click on weapons, for example, I can Favorite or Unfavorite weapons. When I try to Equip a weapon, then assign it to a hand using the M1 Mouse for Left or M2 Mouse for Right, the weapon disappears from inventory and drops rather than being assigned to the hand selected. I have NOT pressed R to drop the item but it is dropped.

The same thing frequently happens with apparel. It took about 20 tries to put on the Light Imperial Helmet, Boots and Tunic without the item being dropped.

I do not have a controller and am controlling with the touchpad and keyboard.

My OS wis Windows 8 x64 running on a fairly new Sony VAIO SVE Quad-Core with 8GM RAM and 4GB dedicated VRAM. All drivers are up to date.

I installed SKSE from the Steam Skyrim Workshop and use that to launch the program, in case that could be part of the issue.

Anyone have any suggestions to help with my Inventory issue?

I also have problem with the Map. Most Map functions work well except for Zoom. My touchpad does not have a wheel and the Touchpad Wheel-like function works with other apps and games, but does not Zoom in Skyrim.

I could not find any settings to reassign a key mapping for Map Zoom (such as reassigning it to Page Up for + for Page Down for -. My keyboard has separate keypad so I could conceivably use Keypad + and Keypad -, but cannot find any Skyrim Settings or Steam Workshop Tools for key assignment.

Any suggestions for the Zoom issue?

I downloaded SKSE from the Skyrim Workshop and use it to launch Skyrim. I now have SkyUI and like the improved Inventory but the problem with Equipping weapons etc. still continues. Items are dropped when I use the mouse buttons, even though I have not pressed R. Any help appreciated.

It might be the touchpad that's causing the problem, you may have to get a regular mouse.

Touchpad's sometimes have extra options in your windows mouse settings. Have you been through those to make sure there's nothing that would conflict? This is a weird issue indeed.

Guess I may have to find the funds to get a bluetooth mouse. USB ports maxed out and no $ for a new powered hub. Thanks for the suggestions and I welcome any more comments.
