Dragonlord dragons -- where'd they come from?

I began a new game. My character is on her way to meet with the greybeards .... and on the way (near Hillgrends tomb) on the bridge over the river, appear two 'ethereal looking' dragonlord dragons. LOL, I don't have a mod loaded or faved for dragonlord or castle.

Anyone know where they come from? Is this a new quest? I'm confused. After playing the start to the game so many times, this is the first 'out of the ordinary' event.

There are at least two new dragon types I ran into out in Skyrim. There was one other dragon type I saw later but he was a named dragon so I don't know if that was something special.

same thing happened to me, he Wasnt aggresive towards me though. Not sure why. Just stared at me saying "need something?"

That's interesting. Do you all have Dragonborn loaded or another Dragon mod? I haven't so am just wondering if I can expect this in the vanilla game.

I'm playing a vanilla game. I have some mods but mainly houses, enchanting and alchemy stuff. Nothing for high-level end game since my character is only level 15 LOL, no way near ready to take on a 'white' dragon. She tried - it was sad.... And, I was playing at apprentice level ...now it's novice LOL.

No, I don't have dragonborn loaded. I was thinking of it, but if this is an indication of the gaming level, might not.

Well, thanks for the input guys. Not sure what's happening but if they ramp up the game past a low level player's ability, it's the end of my time in Tamriel.
