Mod Theft
There are already several mods in the 'Paid Items - Under Review' section that were stolen from Nexus. There are also mods using external resources without having a commercial license to those assets.

What is Valve / Bethesda going to do about this?

Start reporting these mods, link to the page where the content was stolen from, so the valve techie who checks out the site will see there is no commercial license or creative commons.

They don't care, after all they said you can use any content that is freely available for part of your mod.

While Valve is horrible with punctuality, Report ALL stolen mods you see.
I may make a thread to keep track of them later when I'm more awake

If you put another authors content in your mod that you put a price on without their permission you are commiting theft and the other author can issue a DCMA against that mod.

Find the original mod authors and warn them. They can and WILL take down the mods, they just have to message Valve. Of course, if Valve is being thick, a DMCA lawsuit can immediately take place

I found the "lore friendly" sword from Sword Art Online (anime) especially funny.

Definitely report, but I very much doubt how effective this will be.

They had a ONE MONTH trial with select few mods and they didn't even take notice one of the mods was using unlicensed content from other authors. Now once the ball starts rolling and people see cash, how will they ever keep track of hundreds of mods in the queue each claiming they have ownership over a certain piece of content? There is no proof other than the land rush of who can claim ownership over a mod first.

According the latest news post on the Nexus, many authors over there have already hidden their mods in fear of theft. This isn't going to end well...

the free market has fixed it

if you dont charge for your mod someone else will so you might as well do it right

im glad all these free mods are still around!

Yes, very sad. Already saw multiple graphical overhaul mods being stolen and put up for sale review.
