God Lydia Died, Went to previous save, What if it happens again ??
Hi, I had lydia with me doing a quest, she actually wore thebetter armor I made to this time and few miles from whiterun killed some mage enemy near his home, after that a frost dragon attacked, had full voice power of 3 words, but during the battle it ended up killing lydia, and i think a couple times there while swinging around lydia mightve got in the way of my voice area, without noticing, which might not have helped, after the dragon finally died, lydia was no where to be seen, then i found her dead on the ground, I'm thinking ohhh heck, what do i do now ??, i did revert to previous save and did the dragon a little different keeping lydia out the way mostly, but what if she does die, just reverting to a earlier save the only answer ?

As an old school gamer, I advise this as the staple doctrine. What? You wanna cheat? <sigh>

Re-loading is, in my OCD eyes, cheating still... but it is the best way of balance. You messed up through incompetence, therefore face the punishment of having to do it again; cleansing purity in the gamer's soul.....

One could go into creation kit and mess with the NPC's... but you really don't want to currupt your game by making NPC's essential...

>_>

Make a copy of Lydia, and leave the original in Dragonsreach. Make your copy essential (cannot die). Or just play the game normally :P Or download a follower mod and forget Lydia :D

It's been ages since I last used a follower in Skyrim. I think back then your follower could only die if you personally hit them when they were in very bad shape. Then again the follower AI was pretty damn good at catching my arrows. I swear the main purpose of the follower scripting was to block shots.

Couple of snippets from a discussion in the link below
----------
help <follower name> 4
setessential <base ID> <1/0>

1 = immortal
<base ID> = the number you'll find from the first command
----------

Have you tried using this console code:

setessential <base ID> 1

where Base ID: Lydia = 000A2C8E (just an example)

If you go on the Skyrim Wikia then to console commands, there's a command that you use to respawn someone with the exact same items, so, you can find out the code and spawn an entity with their default items, or respawn the entity with the exact same items they had before. :markarth:

open the console and then click on Lydia's still warm corpse. Type "Resurrect 1" into the console and hit enter. Then close the console and watch Lydia twitch back into life and stand up like nothing happened.

ok thanks all for replies. but the revert worked out better, but the chatter about going into creation kit, just goes straight over the top, sry im not geeky, I've no idea about scriptin or making doubles of ppl , and wonder if its still the same one , or will muck up game mechanics some how o.O ?? but will keep in min the conole command ressurct1 if it happens again, thanks jake , but is there a command to have lost follower teleport to you =s i asked her to wait and now im lost trying to find her or a doors been sealed after completing the meridan stone quest ???

If you use certain follower mods (such as Amazing Follower Tweaks) one of the things they do is make your followers essential while you're working together (although they can die on the way home).

Generally speaking, followers will only die if you kill them, or occasionally if they get poisoned or have bleeding damage, or set off a trap. Unfortunately, they do often seem hell-bent on getting in between you and enemies, so 'avoid hitting Lydia' often becomes pretty impossible.

If you find out her... I can never remember if it's RefID or Base ID but I think Ref, you can enter
prid [lydia's ID]
moveto player
(i.e. press enter after her ID) and that should bring her (or sometimes her dead body if she died and you didn't realise...) to you. I've never noticed any issues with doing this, but bear in mind that using console commands a lot *can* cause unforseen problems in your game.

Was about to suggest the same commands. I think it's her RefID that you need to use but I haven't used that command myself more than twice and it was a while ago.

ok i'll have to google he id, after she died the first time, i did a revert to an earlier save, but then i lost sight of inside a dungeon doing meridan stone quest , didnt relise the spirit of meridian would teleport me ssomewhere, and not bring my lydia followerer with or i'd wouldnt have asked her to come o.O and im not using follower mod, just the house mod and and an armor mod
so gnewna in game when i do that prid [lydia's ID] moveto player, is it just one line or 2 ? i did try it after looking thru previous postings, and the code they used didnt work or i didnt type it in right ? \
gnewna 20 ABR 2014 a las 5:51
Yep, two lines, press enter after you type in her ID. Be careful not to use the 'player.placeatme' command some people mention if you google it as this apparently actually creates a copy of the NPC concerned, which can obviously cause weird issues.

You can also move yourself to your follower, I can't remember the command for that, and I don't really advise it because sometimes it takes you to really weird places (like once Lydia and Meeko vanished in the middle of Markarth and I teleported myself to them out of curiosity and was in the middle of the ocean!) but sometimes it's interesting to save, try it out just to see where on earth they got to, and then reload and bring them to you...

She *ought* to have been brought out of Meridia's temple with you, that's odd that she wasn't - sometimes you can fix missing followers by fast travelling or waiting an hour/entering a building (fast travel more likely to work in this case - just nip to Solitude if you've been there already - if they've just got lost outside then either of the other two ought to work.)

thank i will, but that move to command im just not getting it, concole keeps saying somethibng like either unknow script id or something about parameter ending id , 0_0 im just going to go back to an ealier save, rather than fool around with console commands, and tell her to part way and do the meriden quest again solo , knowing i'll get teleported, thanks all tho =)
jaderive 20 ABR 2014 a las 6:26
ohhh ok, she's back, instead of going to an earlier save, i did a bit more googling, and found this
link witha easier command for getting lost followers back,
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2290307
she popped right back up, next to my charectar , thanks everyone for your help ... =)

I've used a2c94.resurrect but haven't given her any different armor so I don;t know if she retain whatever she was carrying at the time of her demise...

man, that reminds me of one of my best blunders. I had just killed the guy at meridias temple, i had the dawnbreaker within my grasp, and as i turned around after defeating the final shade, i acidentallly shield-bashed lydia right in the face and she died instantly. I was dumbfounded.
