Skywind; The Best Elder Scrolls?
I'm sure alot of you have heard about Skywind, a remake of Morrowind using the Skyrim engine. I'm pretty excited for it, because in my opinion Morrowind was the best of the series thus far, but it begs the question: Will it be the same on the Skyrim engine? Anyone who's played Morrowind knows how the combat system was, but will the Skyrim combat system truly make the game better? When will the game be finished? How do you turn all the text of Morrowind into voice acting?

Morrowind has a lot of content, possibly more than Skyrim, so will it be worth waiting for? I'd like your guy's opinions on this subject!

i did not bought the anthology edition for nothing. I MUST have Skywind!
Well based on other land adding mods, you wont have a map.
Considering that Morroblivion was essentially abandoned when Skyrim came out, I suspect that Skywind will also be abandoned when TES VI comes out. Game engines are a moving target.
But they plan to have Skywind out in 2014, and we won't see TES VI until 2017 or later... People keep forgetting about TESO when considering the future of the series. TESO is the new Elder Scrolls Game.

I think looking back that poor combat system, poor visuals and lack of voice acting are some of the biggest weaknesses of Morrowind, so fixing those with the Skyrim engine should make a better game. Still though it's going to be a completely new game entirely, I don't think it's good to consider it Morrowind (as we know it) in the Skyrim engine.

They didn't start it all over just because the next game in the series came out with an updated engine. Morroblivion was never endorsed by Bethesda since Morroblivion ported all the assets straight from Morrowind to Oblivion. It still required you to own both games, but Bethesda still didn't like it, and thus it was removed from places like nexus. Because of that the release of skyrim became a good chance for them to restart, this time by recreating all the assets from SCRATCH, so at the very least Bethesda can't stop them for the same reason as before.

Back on topic, while I am looking forward to it, I am a bit worried how some things will work. Will we get the same old spells back? Does acrobatics, athletics, etc make a comeback?

That was an expansion, not an entire game... But it was a rather good expansion I'll give you that, but Tribunal was an amazing expansion in Morrowind as well.

That's also my main concern, considering the people working on it are obviously die hard fans of the series, they'll almost certainy get ESO (I know I am :D) and will take more and more time to complete Skywind.

Wouldn't really be Morrowind without them so hopefully they do. Morrowind without jump and levitate abilities would simply be lame. Mysticim really needs to make a comeback too.
If Crassius Curio has more dialogue it will be the best game ever made.
Haha ever read The Lusty Argonian Maid? That was pretty damn funny.
The man is Tamriel's greatest literary genius.

As for ESO, I'm really not worried about that being the factor that would disrupt Skywind. Projects such as that one tend to fall victim to their own ambitiousness first, but it seems too far along the developmental path for that. Nope, I have high hopes.

Of course, I turn into a pile of reverant Morrowind-worshipping goo if anyone even says Nerevarine, so I'd be happy if someone just slapped a mushroom house in the middle of Whiterun and called it a day.
Even if it weren't fully completed, it would be cool if they turned it into a quest line where you visit some key places in Vvardenfell. I'd also like a Telvanni tower, definitely the best stronghold from Morrowind.
