Interesting NPCs/AFT conflict? Follower walking away from me
I've installed Interesting NPCs and really like it, but I'm having trouble with Rumarin (Altmer follower). After a few in-game days of travelling around together, he's started... well, wandering off. I went to a quest marker in the inn in Dawnstar and while I was talking to that person, he just sort of started walking to, well, I don't know where, as I didn't have the patience to follow him for more than about five or ten real minutes. I reloaded a couple of times and the same thing was happening so I loaded to an earlier save and went somewhere else. Ended up going to Solstheim, went to the Retching Netch and spotted Rumarin walking out of the door, followed him all the way back to the boat where he did the 'opening a door' animation and kind of poofed back to Windhelm (I presume.) I'm also running AFT, don't think any of my other mods particularly affect followers, and as far as I can tell INPCs should work with AFT, can't find anything on google about this problem, so I'm not sure which mod is doing it, or whether it's something else entirely. Any ideas?

(oh, and is it 'safe' (ish) to uninstall AFT to check whether it seems to be a conflict with that, or will that wreck my save game?)
did you get sprayed by a skunk, and now your follower do not want to follow a stinkin' Dragonborn
Ha, well I was picking a lot of scathecraw in Raven Rock so he might not like the smell of that! Ended up taking him to Windhelm, 'parting ways' with him and going to Whiterun, went into the Drunken Huntsman and Rumarin follows me in! Very odd. Will try to figure out what's going on in the morning, I suppose.

AFT has instructions to safely uninstall it - its not just uncheck the plugin.

AFT also has some troubleshooting functionality in its menus, like being able to reset it.

Do you have the AFT/iNPC compatibility patch installed, installed in the right place, have AFT and iNPC in the right order with respect to each other?

All those have caused problem for me in the past (and are easily fixed by changing load order).
I think I'm having a bad reading comprehension day, I looked for AFT uninstall instructions but couldn't find anything and found a reference to an AFT/iNPC patch but couldn't find the patch itself *sigh* Maybe tomorrow my brain will sort itself out (probably not, the underlying cause [disability & stress] is going nowhere). Thanks for the suggestions :)

Did you get this mod from the Nexus or Workshop?

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15524/? - That's the link to the download page. THe comp patch is in the download ssection and the uninstall instructions are maybe in the main file download or in the book that should be in your inventory 'AFT Readme'.
I got it from Workshop but I did look on the nexus page as well, I'll have a look in the book/docs, cheers.
Okay, I've found the patch. I'm assuming it's probably a Bad Idea to use the patch from the Nexus with the Workshop version of AFT? So I'm going to try and figure out how to safely uninstall/unsubscribe/whatever from the AFT I currently have and switch to the Nexus version.

Check to make sure they're the same version number - otherwise there's no difference betwen them.

So you can use the Nexus compatibility patch with the Workshop AFT.

Ah, good to know, ta - I noticed on the AFT page here there was at least one person having the same issue... The readme book said there should be a file with details on how to uninstall in my game's folder but I can't find it, going to try downloading the Nexus version and see if it has the doc... Thanks for the help!
It may be that you have AFT in a bad spot. If you don't have the book then its not loaded properly. Move it to the last spot in your load order and put the iNPC Patch right after iNPC.
I definitely had the book (although I had to respawn a copy as I couldn't remember which chest/follower had it...) but yus, I've just moved AFT to the bottom of the load order, will see if that helps.
Well, it didn't seem to, so I've reset and uninstalled AFT. Rumarin is now in steel armour for some reason?! So I guess I'll have to reinstall if I want to be able to put him back in his normal clothes :/
I've had similar issues recently, not pinned it down yet. Serana and Ysolda (wife but turned her into a follower with AFT) refuse to move from the door to Windhelm docks. I've no idea why they've decided this is where they're going to 'live', but if I ask Serana to follow me she agrees but stays rooted to the spot. If I summon her with AFT, she runs off back to Windhelm ASAP. I've uninstalled AFT but they still act the same.
Oh, dear! I hope I don't have to start a new game, I've been really enjoying this character, and I'm not too far from (finally - never bothered with it before) finishing the MQ, got lots of cool gear, smithing and enchanting up to 100, etc. *sigh*
