Skyrim Modding Mentor Needed

First and foremost if I need to move this thread somewhere else, then please notify me.

Anywho... My name is James, I'm a senior in high school and one of my graduation requirements is to find a mentor in a field that I'm interested in. I figured since most of my time is spent on video games and I love exploring game mechanics and stuff like that I'd do something in that field. So one of my favorite games of all time is Skyrim, and since Skyrim has a really large modding community, I was hoping to find someone who could teach me how to use the creation kit. Well things get a bit more complicated.
A mentor must sign a verification form that basically states what's expected of you. I'll summarize the main points of that form:
1. You must be an expert or specialist or have some form of experience/credibility
2. You must monitor the growth of the physical project (in this case a mod that I have to create.)
3. Verify on a separate form that you've seen that at least 25 hours of work have been put on the physical project.

Skyrim modding fits as a physical project because it fulfills a role of game development.
Well if you're interested, comment or message me. And if the form thing worries you, don't worry I scan the forms and send them to you for you to sign and scan back to me. As for monitoring my progress, I do have a Skype and am able to use whatever else is necessary for you to see my work.

I actually figured out how to do that literally last week. xD I was hoping a mod author would volunteer to help me, but they're probably busy with the next big mod. If I can't find anyone, I'll just head on to youtube and then find someone to sign off.

To be honest, I don't know how many people will voluntarily teach how to mod, most of these people don't have a lot of time :/ .

You can learn how to make mods with the creation using the Wikis or Youtube. If you search youtube I suggest DarkFox its how i learned how to make my mods.

Exactly how hands-on does the mentoring need to be? 25 hours is a lot of time to devote.

Does pointing you towards the more useful tutorials count as mentoring?

Can you have multiple mentors? That way, you can just label those who more consistently help you - or answer your questions on the forums, or help you debug - as mentors.


I'm too lazy and easily distracted to help >.< I'd be doing something else the next day and have forgotten all about you.

Well the only thing you really have to do is evaluate the work and then confirm that I spent at least 25 hours working on it. The work doesn't have to be under your supervision. I already started watching turorials. :3
