I remember that I read an article on Pokemon and why the protagonists are silent. The interviewee (can't remember who, could be one of the founders) had said that they want players to make up their own story as to what the characters say. So, it could very well be the same thing here.
I hadn't really talk aloud when playing the game, but I like to comment on situations inside my head. For example, being sadist when a boss dies in one hit.
Hello, ggg336! Thank you very much for being the very first to reply! :-) Hmm. I understand what you mean. Sometimes I feel like I must've dozed off for some microsleep when an NPC reacts to something my PC said, that I'm not aware of having said, though. I haven't really role-played any dialogue in my head for a game session. If something does come to mind, I quit the game, and use what I just thought of, for creative writing purposes. :-)
I literally came across it when I was searching for the mod that voices almost all of the menu dialogue the character says. I still haven't found it though, I am actually not even sure whether it exists or has been pulled since I did not follow that mod. I am not even sure I did see the discription properly as to what voices it adds.
When Ulfrid Stormcloak was about to be executed, and wanted me, the "dragonborn", to slay him I would have liked to add my own comment:
"You think I take great pleasure in killing my own people? You think I enjoyed this war with my own brethren? Whom I could have rebuild Skyrim with? Instead of fighting a meaningless war with?"
Then I would have dropped my sword and turned away from the scene.
Good Morning, ggg336! I know that you did! I was just informing you of how one can feel like one has missed dialogue and also, how it makes me feel, when I know that I wasn't too drowsy. But hey, thanks for that link! I'm downloading it now. I remember having the "Oblivion" version and how fun it was, while it lasted. :-) Good luck with your endeavors too, by the way.
Howdy, raptsaurus! Thanks for your reply! Hmm. I've only gotten that far once thus far. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction, so I let the General do it instead. But then, I didn't feel any satisfaction. I think I wasn't sure, because of all the dragon shout advice he had given to me, during a more neutral moment.
But anyway, I am an aspire writer, who is trying to get my own works as recognized as more than being "fan fiction", but more like, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". But, just in case that doesn't work out for me, I also write what I hope are original stories. So, whenever what might pass for game dialogue from my character as I play, I instead have the urge to write it down as story material. Maybe if I was prone to talking out loud as my friends are, I wouldn't do that.
