see low level is the way to go
Lol, there is nothing wrong with a 10 min battle. I never liked one-shotting anything and once I got that style of play out of my system, I always now nerf my combat in some way. I'm at level 28 and only do about 70 damage with an ebony bow (unimproved, as I don't smith), and that's with Krosis, a ring of archery and a 70/100 in archery that is perked heavily. It takes a good amount of arrows to bring down a frost dragon and so it should. They are powerful beasts.
Good job surviving the first dragon. :)
So starting out as abreton using Alternate start i chose to start as a recruit in the colloege of winterhold because i wanted access to weather spells from another mod. I started Under Sarthaal but instead of going with Toldfir I decided to make my way to Winhelm. Vanilla this is a breeze with the hardest fight being 3 wolves max. Im using SkyRe with all the plugins and immersive creatures and patrols.
Lets just say there are now 5 wolves in every pack with frost wolves which eat conjured wolves for breakfast. Not to mention the giant spiders and reikling warriors. If by chance im lucky enough to run away from one group, the next is waiting for me.
I have a flame spell, cojure wolf and healing spell. No armor and no weapon. oh I can cast a mean clear sky spell or make it rain but apparently my enemies dont care if its raining or foggy. they just want to eat me.
I some how made it to the docks of Winhelm after dying probably a dozen times and thought ok ill take a rest and talk to the workers. I turned around and somehow there was a pack of wolves now on the dock. thank the divines there were two guards to help. and by help i mean to do all the work.
The good news is Blood on Thin Ice quest was active so i started it. the victim had a ring of minor weilding and a dagger so atleast now i can maybe deal some damage before i die.
I dont want to come off adept difficulty or fast travel/carriage ride but i gotta get a follower to help.
Im thinking of waiting for the merchants to come along and follow them. if they prove useless at least i might be able to outrun them leaving them as wolf food. Oh Faendal you are useless but i need you NOW!
BTW Canada Rocks
The best advice for those silver hand is to back track to the narrow corridor with the wire cage. This forces them to funnel and you only have to deal with them one at a time. This is the technique I use when I'm at a low level, which I tend to be when I do the Companions.
I had Farkas fixed long ago, he no longer gives me trouble. General Fixes for Followers is what I use. It's a very small follower overhaul mod that tweaks very few things, so IMO, follower mechanics remain, at time, annoyingly still like what was intended. See, Farkas is SUPPOSED to be this heavy armor, two-hander, like his brother, except his heavy armor is higher. Well, in the coding, they made Farkas a blacksmith who sneaks. Huh? Lol, so wonder he sucks. GFF, tweaks his stats so that he does what he actually does; heavy armor, two-handed. It doesn't quite fix his whole, "stand and do nothing while everyone pounds him to death" problem, but at least when he snaps out of it, he's wielding that Skyforge steel greatsword like he should be.
Hope this helps a wee bit, :)
Robin has never been able to convince Barney or the others of that though.
Ha! I've still yet to get used to having easy contact with people outside of my town, county, and state, let alone in other states, countries, or continents. So I forget, and go on as if I'm in touch only with people that live near me, as it used to be for most of my life. From what I've observed thus far, other people in the USA are the same way, and then I've caught people outside the USA doing the same, so I know that it isn't just me. ;-)
"Canada Rocks"? Should I avoid mixing them with "Canada Dry"? (I use their Ginger Ale, for New Year's Eve", by the way.)
