Skyrim launcher crashes. Have searched and nothing has worked

I use Windows 10 and have no problem with Skyrim.

Did you try to reinstall Skyrim? (clean the whole Skyrim folder from steamapps->common)
Also after you upgrade to windows 10 you need to manually start up the automatic updates because it doesnt start by itself(but only needed to do that the first time).

Run the System File Checker tool

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. When the scan is complete, the System File Checker tool indicates whether integrity violations were found. If integrity violations are found, the System File Checker tool lets you fix the integrity violations"

so:

a. Click Start and type cmd in start search.
b. Right click on Command Prompt to select "Run as Administrator".
c. Type: sfc<space>/scannow.

Note: SFC scan may take a while to complete.

If the issue persists you can try reregistering kernelbase.dll and check.

a. Click Start and type cmd in start search. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.

b. Type "regsvr32 KERNELBASE.dll" without the quotes and Press Enter.

c. Restart your computer and check.

There have also been reports of corrupted OS profile borking KernelBase.dll which would give the same Skyrim error as launcher.exe also uses the same .dll

So, Dependency Walker is your friend.

Knock wood, no major issues like that for me. I saw those reports while researching this yesterday, just in case you didn't pop back in.
It may help me that after installing my OS I always run the sfc /scannow, just like after installing a Steam game I run verify game cache. Old school, I prefer a hard copy because I do not trust downloads!!

Seems to be a number of .dll issues with Win 10. Deja Win 95-97.

The module "KERNELBASE.dll" was loaded but the entry point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Make sure that "KERNELBASE.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again

Download KernelBase.dll from microsoft or cnet. Rename yours then copy the .dll to the directory. I'd use Dependency Walker for more info.

as i couldnt find the dll on microsoft or cnet by googleing, i read that creating a seperate user account might work, and sure enough, it works on a seperate account i created on my computer. Now i just need to figure out why it isnt working on my main account, because logging out and into another account just to play skyrim will probably get annoying quick

Corrupted profile. I suggested that as a possibility. But, both issues may be caused by a corrupt KernelBase.dll. The file should be replaced with the sfc /scannow so I'd run it again. With Win 10 there have been reports of sfc /scannow being a bit sketchy so I'd re-run it. Don't forget to be logged in on your original profile.

Also, Dependency Walker on Launcher.exe for more info.

You are not going to like MS solution: Copy everything over to the new profile... a &^&^%^& nightmare.

Apparently many others issues can bork KernelBase.dll including bad video drivers/hw, malware/virus. Some programs actually replace that file. So you might want to rename it, back it up too while you are at it, then delete it, and then run sfc /scannow which should d/l a new file.

I was having the same problem today and spent 4 hours trying to find a solution. I watched a video by some Dutch guy who finally had the answer:
1.Go to Virus Software
2.Settings
3.DeepGuard
4.Check off the box mentioning compatability
My virus scanner was blocking skyrim even though i had played it fine before.......:steamsad:
I don't know if this will hep u but it helped me.

Yes, that might help as one of the many causes of a corrupt profile is an anti-virus program running while logging in to an account or similarly when launch.exe is executing. There are, however, no specifics as to which av.

turned off the avast equivilant, and still crashes. Ill probably just have to make the other account my main at some point. Its a pain because i used the "install only for this user" option for all my programs -.-
