WIndows 8 will not launch

Anyone else having issues getting this to play using Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit? I click play and just get a windows crash...

This may be caused by 2 problems:Corrupted files or you don't set to work as XP.

I have reloaded game and tried using XP compability mode. Still same crash.

As you will see in the store page, it doesn’t state windows 8 as a supported os.
Your best bet is to go to the games official forums.

To be fair... I haven't done much testing with Windows 8 until a few weeks ago. I installed it on a fresh install from Steam on Windows 64 bit and noticed that Windows prompted me to install .NET 3.5. While only .NET 2 is required, this would be something to make sure is installed.

In short... it will run on Windows 64 bit, but make sure .NET 2 (or 3.5 which includes 2.0) is installed.

I uninstalled and reinstalled .net 3.5 for Windows 8 still crashes when launched...

I was able to resolve by changing the following setting,

> Open up Local Security Policy
> Click on Local Policies > Security Options
> In the right box scroll down until you see "System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encrytion, hashing and signing
> Double click and select "Disabled" > Click OK Universe Sandbox is working like a boss...

If I undo that setting the game crashes, I am running Windows 8 Professional 64-Bit. Even a fresh install it happens.

Is your registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\FipsAlgorithmPolicy\Enabled =1 or 0? I have a Cisco VPN client that requires this to be set to 1 (enabled)

cannot get this game to work under Win8, i've tried all the solutions listed here with no positive results. must say that first time running works nice and easy, but then never worked again, even with fresh install. any comments?
