Runaway: The Dream of the Turtle

Runaway: The Dream of the Turtle

Runaway 2 Sequences are very slow and laggy!
Runaway actually works fine on windows 8, but there is still something that irritates me:
These sequences where Brian is chatting with Sushi on his computer are VERY laggy and that is really annoying. I can't seem to find any options to change it to windws xp mode or something. I hope someone can help me!

I have the same problem here on Windows 8. I haven't found any solution yet, but I hope somebody has a solution.

I have the same problem, I guess it is because of the snow (there is some in the windows when Brian speaks with sushi, and there is even more snow in chapter 4 making it not playable)

EDIT: with more research, I found a solution: play in windowed mode (Need to use a program to do that)

Wow thank you Cab! I'll try it out! I appreciate it that you came back to inform us :)

Found another solution that is simplier and does not generate "Steam not found" error: just unpack this file[bitbucket.org] into game directory.

There's also wndmode.ini file that can be tweaked.

This DirectDraw proxy was taken from the arcitle http://habrahabr.ru/post/133956/ (Russian language) and should work with other DirectDraw games.

It's working! It just bothers me, that my mouse won't stay in the window. It seems to move out of the game on it's own.

Yes, I've run in this problem too. To fix it set UseCursorSet and UseCursorGet to 1 in wndmode.ini.

Thank you :)
Worth noting that this solution crashes the game, on launch, in Windows 10.
Edit: Works okay with Border=0 set in the wndmode.ini.

Hi,

just want to add something to the solution for anyone who stumbles over it:

After Using DXWnd or D3DWindower or anything the video/snowflake performance was OK, but my ingame mousecursor started flickering. I kept trying the DXWnd advanced options for hours to fix it (after all, it was not broken before using DXWnd). Turns out that this can be fixed by turning off the "High Quality Video" in-game.

Solution found here: https://www.gog.com/forum/runaway_series/runaway_2_performance_chapter_4 - I did not see this hint in steam forums before.

Any way to make the window bigger?
JungleFreaks Nov 27, 2018 @ 3:55pm
The only way I found to make the window bigger is to change the display settings to 1366x768 (so you can read the subtitles).
