The patch provided on my itch.io account does fix the problem - but there was an additional problem I didn't realise, where the base Steam game being patched doesn't detect the update.
I re-uploaded the Steam build, so if you update Blackberry Honey on Steam, then install the patch again (the same one linked on my itch.io page), the problem should be resolved. I just tried it out on my Steam version and it works. I hope this helps!
And I'm sorry for causing you problems u_u
Thank you for letting me know! I appreciate it! <3
I'm not sure if this is a problem you know anything about, but I thought I'd bring it up. Again, I loved the game! I just want proof that I beat it, haha.
This should fix the problem.
Search your computer for a folder called: Eromeidos-1467738994
It might take you a little while to find it, but this folder will be in your computer somewhere. It's where Ren'py externally stores the game's data. (The folder is called Eromeidos b/c this was my working title for the VN before I thought of a real title hahaha ;;;)
There should be a file this folder called labelled 'persistent'. Delete it.
Then, go into your steamapps folder (where all your steam games are saved), go into BH's folder. Go into the game/saves folder. There should be another file in here called 'persistent'. Delete that too.
Doing this will lock the extras section in the game again, and it will make the game forget the text you've read, but if you select 'skip all' in the settings menu and skip through the game the achieves should unlock properly!
Doing this doesn't delete your saves either.
Let me know if it works!
Thank you so much! That did the trick! I thought I'd tried everything.
And thank you for making such a wonderful game <3
Here are some typos I found, a total of four that managed to catch my eye.
https://imgur.com/a/Qx2jZ
I marked the corrections with asterisks, to make spotting them a little easier.
Other than that, I didn't find any bug or glitches within the game itself. Big kudos to you guys for putting out such a great VN.
The artist wants to edit a few of the cgs, so I won't fix these typos until all the images are edited, so I don't have to upload multiple new builds.
I'm also curious if the achievements are unlocking properly for everybody, since somebody had troubles with them. I'm not sure if this is a one-off thing or a wider issue. If anybody else has problems with achieves unlocking it would be useful to know u_u
If you follow the steps I gave Rising Up it will solve all achievement-related issues, but I'll upload a new build of the game next week hopefully, which should fix these problems for good.
It had been impossible think about anything but the older woman during the service.
"to" missing from between the 4th and 5th words, or -ing missing from the end of the 5th.
Thoroughly humilated, Lorina stalked down the hallways of Bly with a face like thunder.
"i" missing from the 2nd word.
They wended their way through the rose gardens when when they were halted, quite suddenly, by an unexpected interloper.
The 9th word is repeated.
If Lorina was a gambling kind of girl, she would wager that theese 'important matters' in the gardens involved idle gossip about the stablehands with Isobel.
Extraneous "e" letter in the 13th word.
You do want to go to heaven and meet St Varena, don't you, Lottie?
The 11th word is misspelled, written with "a" instead of "e".
Well, um... She she was supposed to polish this fireplace, but 'important business'—
There is no indication of the 1st word of the second sentence not accidentally being repeated.
That brief moment she had shared with Taohoua had been her very first kiss.
Misspelled name.
Perhaps, Lorina fond herself pondering, she was a relative of Reverend Marner's.
Missing "u" from the 3rd word.
The younger maid sighed, letting her arms falls limply to her sides.
Extraneous "s" at the end of the 8th word.
If you're willing to let me do what I want, who I am to deny you?
Should the it be "am I" instead of "I am?"
When I have I ever said I disliked you?
The 2nd word is extraneous.
They just make inferences and snide remarks and look down you.
"on" missing from before the last word.
It was almost like the entirity countryside had been bathen in a golden glow – but Lorina wasn't in the mood for sentiment.
Is the 6th work correct?
Her blonde hair, so typically neat and straight, now curled about her face is a most disorderly manner.
"is a" should be "in a".
So, that was it, was it?
+"'t" missing from the end of the penultimate word? (Unless on purpose.)
If Taohua has begun to see sense about that violin of hers, she should make a decision sooner rather than later.
This appears as a thought, without the quotation marks and without Emilie's name.
There are more customers, and our family is known is well-known enough we should be able to relocate with relative ease.
The 8th and 9th words, or the two immediately following them are extraneous.
Lorina tried desperately to think of something to say.. but whenever she saw the older maid, her tongue seized up inside her head.
The 3rd dot is missing.
I want to stay with you matter what you, or anybody else, might think.
Probably a ", no" is missing from after the 6th word, for it to make sense.
In fact, I think I was even closer with her than I was my own mother.
"with" missing after the 13th word.
The young maid gathered her belongs slowly and carefully, ...
Is "belongs" and archaic form of "belongings?"
Her hair, tied into to stubby braids, was a little mussed, and her eyes were bleary from lack of sleep.
"w" missing from the 5th word.
Lorina could see them flitting to and fro; flecks of colour darting amongst the foilage.
The last word is misspelled.
That would be all. I may have missed a few typos, but in any case, there weren't too many, especially considering the length.
(Worth noting I played without the extended adult patch. As I just learned of it.)
I also had to delete the persistent files and that seemed to fix the skipping, too, because when I set it to only skip the read lines after starting the game for the first time, it still kept skipping everything. (I was looking for the button to hide the text box. After activating skipping with tab – then reloading – 'H' was my next lucky guess. No, it wasn't a nude scene why I looked for it, if you are curious.)
It was a really nice story, with just enough drama, mystery, and romance (hardships, misunderstandings both to overcome and learn from, and attention keeping unknown pasts, none of them soul-crushingly terrible, but emotional enough to bring tears to my eyes) for me to think back on it fondly, and a very nice read.
There were some signs which suggest alternative routes were planned. It could be nice if they were released in the future, though I'm not entirely sure which I'd prefer, as I really liked it as a kinetic novel as well. Thank you very much for creating it, and whatever they will be, I look forward to your upcoming works (the yuri ones the most).
also, all CGs in the gallery were probably unlocked at the start (i noticed it when i had received the second achievement)
The folder you need is definitely there, you need to search for it in your PC files. Even if I upload a fix, the achievement problem won't be fixed for you because uploading a new build won't reset or overwrite your persistent data that's saved externally from the game - you have to delete the persistent file from Eromeidos-1467738994 yourself to make it work.
yep, i've already found the folder. my pc is probably laughing at me
anyway, thanks for the answer!
