Configuration tool wont save controller config

Hi,

I've redownloaded Sonic Generations onto a new laptop. Running Windows 8.

I'm using just a generic USB pad which worked fine with my old computer.

The problem is, that when I hit save and quit in the config tool, then go back into it, it's not saving the controller as being selected and goes back to keyboard. It's odd though, as it remembers the key binds to my controller.

ANY IDEA AS THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING!

Can I edit the input config file manually to solve this? I had a look at it and i dont understand it at all.

Try playing it anyway. With the 360 controller. It doesn't save that you selected it either. But it works once you get in game

It didn't for a while, but then it suddenly started working. I'm 27, and have been using both windows and mac OSX...stuff for about 10 years...but apparently they're both as randomly useful as each other!

delete the Cfg files and rerun the config tool and see what happens

I did that...and it was still forgetting everything...but now for some reason it just works! Haha. I'm seriously starting to think that my computer is sentient and just trolling me! Thanks anyway though.

Ok, now I've downloaded the 360 game pad emulator to fix the sidesteping issue. Now it wont detect anything even though I've installed the files correctly. I go into the config too, it shows the 360 pad in the options, i save it and it wont actually save it...NO idea how to fix this!
