Enough Resources? - Clunky UI
I've played as far as I can underground, almost...very hard to get to the surface. I get it. If these people would be in this situation i real life, sure it is kind of "realistic" that they have few rescourses (ore and mining stuff), but how much shall thar count in a fame like this?
I am not having fun. My "people" that I have a relation yo now are just tired and I think it is boring to wait for hours until they have mined the whole map. Unless you take a screenshot of the map before starting the game you will not have a clue where the resources are, so you have to mine for ages to get it. I play with a mouse and keyboard. I think it is a bit clunky. When I have used my left mouse button and "chosen" an objcect or something, I find it natural to be able to use the right mouse button to "go back" a step or let go of what you have chosen. Learn from Endless Space 2 where using the right mouse button to go back a step. When all this is said, I like the game and say that the developers have done a good job. Maybe the focus now sould be more focused on the UI and opyimising what is happening underground? Maybe we will be so lucky that some mod creator will make a map where the resources are more avaliable, and a better UI? I am waiting with excitement, because I like this game, but I want to love it because its fun all the way!

Howdy! Thank you for playing my game and thank you for the feedback on your experience. When selecting an object/colonist you can right click to deselect the object/colonist. Is this not working for you? Where else do you feel the UI is clunky?

Always good to here where there may be some balancing issues. The transition from facility to surface content is something that has previously undergone some changes and further changes are expected. So it's certainly good to get some feedback on that front.

A classic gamer kind of "avoids" going to the surface before "being ready", but in fact you should head to the surface as soon as you can. This is something the game doesn't communicate to the player very well. I think we are so used to building big and magnificent bases with huge production capabilities in games, that we forget to ask what we need it for.

Thanks for response!
It functions great with deselecting colonist. Use it all the time! But for some reason I had trouble deselecting items to after placing them. (It's not my mouse). I will try again now (experienced this playing in June or July this year). I also kept pressing "Esc" to deselect after use, but that did not work either. (I am old school I know ha ha) Maybe its me, an old guy not getting the system in to my fingers.

About getting to the surface to get more resources: The problem was that i didn't have enough resources to build what I needed to reach the surface! So I started breaking down items to get back resources, but that lead to other issues...so after a while I gave up. My only option was to mine everything, and I started doing that, but my colonists were not very interested to say the least. It felt like it would take forever and I did not have resources to build pieces of "ceiling" either. I used a big map, and maybe that was not the best choice (expected more resources on a big map, but maybe it doesn't work like that). At the start of the game when choosing map, one can see where the resources are, maybe the mini map could be available in game to? (ca always take a snap shot when in that menu, but if one forgets it...)

I have to again say that I love the game except for these issues, so keeping an eye on it :)

Thank you for the tip. I will try it!

Had a map like that recently, too. Very low on anthrazite.

Rather than mining everything, dig exploratory tunnles. (Make sure you have more "parallel" mining jobs in the same region than you have miners; those idiots plan too far ahead, and don't realize they'll be able to reach the block behind the one they're currently mining, so once they've finished that block they'll keep trundling off to do some other job they've already set their mind on; you want that other job to be nearby so they don't waste too much time alternating between job sites, and you probably also want it to be a mining job.) Start with a coarse grid in hopes to hit big deposits, and make the grid smaller and smaller as you continue your search.

Also, make sure to not build in places from where you mined scarce resources, until you have completely exhausted them using a deep mining robot (make sure you have at least one of those) and turned the ground to dirt.

If you're running really low, excavate a large hall to provoke collapses (preferably someplace off your colonists' commute paths), which will tend to bring some resources with them (no deep deposits though).

Collapses seem to be a hit-and-miss thing: Sometimes a game won't give you any collapses at all. In my experience, saving and re-loading will change that quite drastically.

If you forgot to screenshot the map when you created it, don't worry, you can still access that overview as follows: Press ESC to bring up the "save"/"load"/etc menu; below the menu line proper there'll be a note on the right saying, "Game Seed: SOME_WORD"; take a note of that word, then pretend you want to create a new game (make sure to save your proper game first). In the map generation UI, enter the magic word into the "Map Seed" field, choose whatever map size you think you opted for in your proper game, and click "Generate": The map you'll see will be the very same as the one you started your proper game with (presuming you remembered the map size correctly).

Tanks for tips and tricks man! I will definitely check it all out :)
