Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

I just lost an 80+ hour save.
I moved Recettear from one drive to another and the save.dat vanished through the transfer. It's nowhere to be found on my system, I've done at least 5 searches for it now.

Is there any way to get them back or am I simply screwed ?

I was so close to having all fusions too T_T

Nevermind, it is gone for good. Looks like I'll just have to use a save file editor to get at least some of the stuff back.

Let this be a lesson to you, kids : Every time you move something inside Steam from A to B, you first make a full copy of it and stash it away somewhere, in case it goes kaput. Editing in everything I lost will probably not even be worth the time investment at painstainkingly going through all of the items and guessing an estimate at what you had, let alone the new game +++++++++++++++++++ or something where I've been at, trying to find the last few items I need to finish the encyclopedia.

Most of the adventurers had the very best gear too T_T
Sorry to hear that mate. But at least you get to enjoy the game all over again?
Actually it's more of a catch 22 for failing : if I do it all over again, it would just be a waste of time and I'd end up hating the game. If I cheat everything back to the way it was, it'll be just an empty save with no sentimental value, and I'd just end up hating it. So I'll just pretend I finished the game, since I wasn't playing it at all the past few months, and just put the dot at the end there. Was a nice game while it lasted, though.
That really sucks but you seem to have a pretty good outlook on things
Wow, 80 hours. That would have made me a really sad panda. Mind if I ask how long is the game really?

It depends on how much time you put into the game. I haven't lost my save, but I never unlocked new game +. I'm trying to unlock it without getting a game over and without using the internet for information. I have played it for 14+ hours and it's one of the best translated indie games I own.

Always back up & move save files separately. Sounds like your days in this game are done.

Actually it was more closer to 100. The game itself is short, very short, but I've done New Game Plusses like HELL when trying to grind out every single adventurer's true card and THEN going for filling in the encyclopedia. Getting them to buy the best gear was time consuming as well. I wasn't even a fanatical player of this game, I only played it about 1-2 hours tops a week, it just added up and up and up.

Yes, I have learned a lesson for life with this, don't you worry. I backed up every single save I have on my PC to an external HDD.
Use GameSave Manager. Keeps all your saves backed up and easily restored.
You could try a data recovery program to try to find the save. Many are free and work well.

Ah, so that's how it is. You sound like me, trying to get everything in a game :P
Might actually buy this game. Seems like the game that I would put lots of hours into.
If you are indeed one of thost compulsive completionists, this game will tickle you in all the right places.
Wow dude it's bad for you.. I've lost my save once too but I was only a bit after the first part of the game finished (like 6-7 hours). I wouldn't start it again and stuff but since I wasnt that far and I like the game I brought myself back to it and now am in the new game+ and progressed a little bit. And I know about cheating 'n stuff is not a solution. Aww..

I wish steam has clouding for Recettear..
