GOG version substantially behind Steam?

I'd much prefer to buy this on GOG but read a review over there that the GOG version is 10 patches 7 months behind Steam. Is this still true? Will it be true for future updates?

If so, for an early access / in development game this is really not a good thing.

OK thanks. So every update, including latest betas is released within a week or two on both Steam and GOG? That reviewer seemed pretty clear that there was a big delay between versions last year.

I realise that many games are updated to Steam with a short delay before going to GOG. That's not a problem as long as its not going to be months later, as stated in that review.

GoG doesn't have a beta branch. It will get main version updates at the same time as steam and itch, though.
