The voice chat is completely separate from the game which is why you can still hear people as a server crashes.
Before update 17 both Game sound and Voice used "Default Device".
I have been manually using a split setup for over a year, because I have two sound-cards an internal one, set to "Default Device" and an external USB one set to "Default Communications Device".
Hence all game audio comes out of the internal card and all voice chat (and my mic) use the external card.
If you only have one sound card / you only want to use one sound card make sure both the "Default Device" and "Default Communications Device" for both playback and recording (4 settings total) are set to the card/headphones you want to use - That is a windows setting (before you even start the game).
Doing that should fix all the mic, voice and game sound issues posted in this and other threads.
It would be really cool if we could split the various voice channels (Local, Squad and Command) onto different sound cards too - that would allow me to mix them differently - for example having Squad chat in my left ear and command in my right.
Same here dude, I’ve reported it to t17 and advised there are other players such as yourself with the same issue.
We have moved this thread over to the Report a Problem forum so we can offer better help.
Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear you're having issues with VoIP in Hell Let Loose.
Could you please try updating your audio drivers?
- Open your Windows Device Manager by opening the Windows Task Bar
- Type Device Manager in the search field and press Enter
- Expand the Sound, Video and Game Controllers drop-down menu
- Right-click all devices and select Update driver
Additionally, try deleting the following folder: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\HLL and allow the program to regenerate the files. This might fix your problems with VoIP.Note: after deleting the folder, you will need to redo your Settings and Keybindings.
Could you also please click your Time and Date in Windows and make sure it's synchronised with the internet? Try to select the option "Set Time Automatically". Also under the “Synchronise your clock” option, select the button that says "Sync Now". If this doesn't work, please sync it manually if the time is off.
After correcting your clock and date please retest the game to check if the issue is fixed. Hope it helps.
Regards,

For me, I join a voice channel on Discord (you can just leave yourself muted) then launch HLL. I join a game then ensure that the correct device is selected in the mic menu. The mic then somehow just starts working.
I don't know why HLL doesn't seem to "activate" the mic in Windows anymore. It used to work flawlessly.
