Unfortunately we are not planning to release Realms Beyond on Linux. For now, Realms Beyond is only available for Windows. But in the future Realms Beyond will be available for MacOS as we are working toward it now. Thank you for your understanding.
What happened?
You said during the Kickstarter that it would support Linux, so what changed? It was clearly listed on the backer rewards. Will Linux backers get a refund?
+1 for wanting an answer
I'm disappointed, since it was one of the promises during the Kickstarter campaign. I'd appreciate an explanation.
I bet you could find a lot of Linux gamers here, who'd be happy to test beta Linux builds and provide you with bug reports etc.
BTW the Linux build of Old North worked very well, still does.
1) No Linux support
2) No loading saves from previous to continue story, instead you get to make some select choices. Apparently there is now no longer an attempt being made to make this happen.
3) No real "choice' deviations to the story.
4) Promised 3 games, but now says Realms Beyond was the last planned and Howl's Ravager which was DLC is now somewhat said to be the second in order to say they held up their promise.
And this is just a few things I've noticed from people complaining on this forum. Haven't actually tried to look up all the promises that weren't met.
Fun game though, but it's a little disappointing when promises aren't kept and things are dropped with no explanation.
The Kickstarter have a webcomic series stretch goal reached as well.
Although seeing how the devs treating this game, it seems like they were already planning to abandon this game and series, perhaps they're expecting little return from it.
- They hardly do anything to promote the game, and the number of players seem to be much less than what Old North used to have.
- The game was released with so many obvious bugs, and some of them still hasn't been fixed.
- Not even bothering to sell soundtracks
- Devs stopped responding to anything more than a month ago.
Too bad though, I really enjoyed the story and was really looking forward to the third decade.
First of all we want to apologize for not being communicative enough for the past few weeks.
Regarding CTRB support for Linux, there's several reason why we discontinue our support for Linux. First, the main reason is CTRB compatiblity issue on Linux. During development, we faced lot of problems that only occured in Linux but not occured in Windows or Mac. Second, due to time constraint and limited manpower we could only focus on Windows. We are also working on another project, so unfortunately our hands are full for now thus we cannot provide support for Linux. Third, we also find that most of the players are came from Windows and there's less from Linux. Forth, there's also lot of Linux variants and we cannot provide support for all of the variants.
Although we cannot provide a support for Linux, we are currently planning on how to give a better experience for player. The current state is still on initial plan, so we cannot promise to deliver it soon. Again, we are deeply sorry that we cannot fulfill the initial promises for now.
Thank you for your understanding.
