Question about gifts with your partner

I tried looking online but I am unsure if I am phrasing the question wrong or maybe I'm just not looking in the wrong places but here it is:
I am fighting the Cannoneer and the Blade Bearer and I tried to use the fire protection skill and the fire reisistance tonic but I seem to still be taking a ton of damage. When I use the Foulblood barrier and the fire protection gift, it seems to cast on Yakumo but not me as no icon shows up at the bottom. Unless I am missing something, I do not think those skills are being casted on myself as well as him and the two bosses are wrecking me as I will dance with the Blade Bearer just to get blasted in the face by the fire (I know he puts a thing under my feet before he shoots a cannon at me but when I am trying to dodge the Blade Bearer's ice and his fire blocks a route I could take out of the ice, it's frustrating).

Question is: are my Fire Protection and Foulblood Barrier ALSO being cast on me or just my partner?

Probably you need better code and your hp is too low, so any resistance is irrelevant.
Also you need to beat ice girl as fast as you can first. So it is wise to apply ice resistance. Fatman is slow and so all his attacks.
Also change your Ai partner, maybe.
