The real counters are chaff, shields and photon emission. Emphasis on photon emission.
If the opponent has got electromag shot then you gotta get a bit more creative with positioning and you probably want photon emission as well. The armor upgrade isn't supposed to be a win game button, it can be a sucker punch and later on it's usage varies.
Yes, and it also gives +30 percent health. It's very helpful.
Relying on your opponent not hitting you with electromagnetic shot is a bad strategy.
You've been given a great list of soft counters, but you're asking for a hard counter, which the game doesn't need.
and if you have a high level units with 50% bonus hp thats a free chunk of hp gone from a single shot. honestly buffing the armour may have been an overall nerf since it will now be considered a tech worth EMP'ing.
unless they change it so you dont lose the extra hp and only lose the armour. in which case im sure armour tech would be getting nerfed in that same patch.
so yeah play smart dont over invest into a single unit type without a proper plan on countering emp. cause it will be coming if you stack 3-4 techs on a unit or get one of the techs people will always get emp to deal with.
at least to my knowledge it takes away the extra hp. i remember it doing so to assault marks at least.
Other tech can help you avoid EMP, such as increased range keeping you behind your chaff.
Why? Unlike the defensive upgrades that get benefit from being shot against everything else other than EMP, EMP is only ever useful against targets with tech that don't already die in a single hit while still costing the 300 supply + 200 in taxes.
"Wah, my oponent countered me in one spot so I want a full refund so I can spend every supply to exactly counter what they have"
Just equip different techs then. You don't have to use them, and you can find different combos that would work for you.
Shield is "immune" because the shot hits the shield, not the unit. This is why Photon Coating is also immune to EMP, because it's a coating around the unit that prevents the EMP shot from hitting it.
Mech Rage on Fangs and Sledges aren't worth EMPing, but they are extremely worth getting. Range similarly is always worth getting for pretty much every unit, but it's not worth trying to counter Range with EMP.
