dragosal Jan 23, 2013 @ 6:47pm
well that sucks, may just play alone
Dr.Dark Jan 23, 2013 @ 8:46pm
ranked has hacks but if you farm the items/buy from the forums its pretty safe
Ajay Jan 23, 2013 @ 10:36pm
open is full of hacks but there its ok and ranked goot a few but you can report them to help trendy get these hackers.

Only a minority uses modified gear in ranked mode. I've only seen 2 or 3 in over 500 hours of gameplay.

If you host your own game you can check the equipment of the players by hiting "esc" and cliking "hero info". If someone has impossible stats you can boot him and enjoy your game without someone ruin it for you.

I currently have 412 Hours logged in ranked DD and have only seen one person with hacked gear, although i'm not even sure he knew his gear was hacked as it was just one item he was wearing. So was honestly probably just someone that got duped into paying real money for an item or something.

I know this sounds lame - but unless it's a player VS player map - all you can do is win. In ranked i only saw one really bad one with 4k stats in every slot at level 83 - he is still playing - talked his way out of being reported said he would dump the gear. I didn't care his build was awesome at the time. The only real problem was he was just a rude arrogant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. LOL

On the Ranked servers i vary rarely find people who have hacked, but if i go to the Open servers they seem to be everywhere

the forums are not a safe place to buy the only 100% safe way is to farm your self
ranked is full of hacked gear it just most hacks have learned to make it look real
and if you ask around you will find that the attitude towards it is as long as it is hacked with in actual limits no one cares that its hacked here is a quote from one of the top item checkers on the subject

Originally posted by Dingle:

tl;dr: Item checkers had to work it out for themselves; Trendy have asked us not to share; Hacked items with legit stats aren't the biggest problem ever.

Regardless of how you feel about that, I have in the past posted a poll asking what the players thinks of making a public item database so everybody could check their own items. The majority were for it (somewhere around a 80:20 split) but Trendy contacted me personally and asked me not to do it.

Those of us who know how this works aren't keeping it secret because we think we're special or anything - we're just not allowed to make the information publicly available. As such, everybody who knows how to do item checks had to work it out for themselves. Almost all the information is in DDDK if you're willing to read into it (the only items I can't absolutely check are in the Jester DLC, which isn't in DDDK)

As for cloned gear made from what I've checked - not as big an issue as you'd think. Hackers are only going to make gear for personal use (won't affect you personally), to sell in paypal shops ((1) Avoid player shops, (2) ???, (3) PROFIT!!), or to attempt to flood people with hacked gear so they can laugh as people get banned.

But if gear has legit stats, there's no real way to prove it's hacked, so that last part falls over. If they're selling hacked gear for mana to try and make that happen, but the gear's legit... well, does it really matter where a perfect rock comes from if you're paying what it's worth? You can't prove the legitimacy of an item that could theoretically spawn, and you can't really claim it's hacked because they're selling cheaper than other users, seeing as that's part of how the market works.

I'd only really become a problem if they flood the game with so much gear the economy deflates - well, honestly, it probably needs to deflate a little anyways, and the only real solution would be increased supply of quality gear (gear becomes cheaper, people finding upgrades more often mean more mana spent upgrading the... upgrades). In moderation hackers could actually help fix the economy, which is an amusing concept. Or, Trendy could increase drop rates! ...but they seem completely opposed to changing them.

I will post a link when find it

I played with a guy the other day who had a moneky who boosted pretty much all of his stats by 1500, and did an insane amount of damage with it's banana. Right away i thought it was some form of cheating becuase I've never seen a monkey with stats like that...

Players with hacked gear get banned in ranked (if you report that to trendy ofc)

I don't know about "legit".

But I play fairly- naturally. No need for hacks- it's freaking Dungeon Defenders.

i shudder at the word "legit".
dragosal Jan 25, 2013 @ 3:18pm
yeah, i just mean without hacks.

Word of advise, stop paying attention to what others do.

On the PC it's really really easy to play with legit players! I have maybe 1 hacker join a game for every 15 games I run? When I don't host and join games instead, I only see hackers in one in 10 games? Quite a few people have hacked gear, but very very few people actually hack the game.

It's really easy to avoid hackers because you can kick people easily and there are LOTS of games to play. Open = allowed to "hack" as long as it's not a VAC bannable.
