British Intervention
So i have been messing with things lately in my previous campaigns as the CSA. I got a wild idea the other day to play a Union campaign and see if i can change some things so that the south gets the British to Intervene immediately in the war, and maybe the French later on. I am curious if anyone has tried this before and what to expect, especially since i haven't played a Union Campaign in like a year.

Count me as another one looking for an answer. I've never even come close to European intervention, and it could make for a fresh, interesting experience if I'm too close to winning as the US (or just otherwise finding it too easy). I'd love a way to try to provoke it.

At the very least, we should be able to move troops into Canada to deliberately start ♥♥♥♥.

I modded the game a while back to see what the intervention looked like. What i did was change the intervention value of the Union taking the letters of Marque from -0.1 to 1, so intervention is instantly triggered. I won't lie, intervention is pretty underwhelming. After a few months the british spawn a 30k strong army in canada and I think the French get a similar sized army in texas or louisiana. I think they also have fleet appearing on the coast but i don't remember.

Update, i got the relations high enough for them to intervene. I essentially went into the Campaign prefs folder and changed all the numbers regarding intervention levels. The south won the battle of Fort Washington on Sept 1 1961, which is what triggered the Brits to join them. They instantly spawned The army of Canada 16000 men (35 guns). within the Month the British Expeditionary Corps appeared (27000 men 80 guns and 2 star experience) both armies proceeded to take a few forts along the border on there way south. they both came down through Marietta Ohio and tried to take DC. The army of Canada wound up disintegrating (idk y they weren't cut off by any means) and Idk were the expeditionary corps is or what they are doing. They had two fairly large fleets show up to blockade me (they got my blockade ration up to 27% at one point) but ive managed to beat both of them off completely. I would also like to note that i have to auto resolve the battles with them. This because for whatever reason the solders wont shoot at each other in battle which is super disappointing. The CSA has researched "support Mexican intervention" but I don't think French intervention can happen until after they conquer Mexicio.

Awhile ago I had England intervene. They sent a corps of dudes to help out. Sadly the game doesn't let you help your allies but they held their own. Also freed up my own corps and so I was able to invade Boston and deprive the USA of clam chowder. They surrendered soon after.

I broke the US ship blockade by buying a crap ton of ironclads from France LOL

the only "intervention" I had ... France invaded Mexico. That was all the farther they got.

for the record I did finish that campaign, eventually in late summer of 1864 i got both corps beat back into Canada, one of them wound up dissolving and i got into a siege with the other and they all wound up being captured lol. Then i just took over Canada and them the Bahamas. I beat off the French intervention fleet and the French troops never showed up. After that I turned those extra men south and with navel support the CSA crumbled like a tower of cards. Definitely an interesting campaign though and id really like to be able to actually play the battles especially since they are well armed forces and very experienced.
