Also on easy mode it attacks the raft so rarely compared to higher difficulties that it's not really an issue. Just make sure to not store important stuff at the edge of the raft (it usually prefers the edges though sometimes it ventures towards the middle of the raft as well) in case you don't manage to fend it off with the spear in time and it destroys the square. And once you have armor on the entire foundation of the raft you can forget about the shark completely until you need to dive in which case 1 or 2 shark baits are enough to clear all the underwater resources from a small island provided you have flippers and the metal hook which is so much faster than the plastic one.
