Game crashes on launch after switching to japanese.
I was curious to see how well I could understand everything since I am learning Japanese. But after switching it crashes on launch now. I reinstalled to see if that would reset it but it's still crashing on launch. is there a config file where I can try just switching it back to English? Thx.

Thanks. Yea In my looking around I noticed that all the other config files I could find in the game folder still had it under EN rather than JP. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. My system has the Japanese language setup. I dont *think* there should be a problem. I have other games in japanese so im not sure. If anything else could help you with that let me know.

Hi again,

I have not intalled the language compatibility with Japanese but I had no problem to switch the game into Japanese from the menu options of the game.

Did you switch the language from that menu?

Yes I did. from the main menu I switched it to Japanese. It then prompted me to restart which resulted in the game crashing immediately on launch.

So it's absolutely impossible to you playing the game in Japanese language, isn't it?

The problem is that if I'm not able to replicate your issue, it's going to be difficult for me to see where the issue come from

It is PC-Win or Linux/SteamOS? There is russian thread near with same issue switching to russian.

the problem is apparently not in Steam Deck, according to the neighboring thread about the problem of switching to Japanese (the OP mentioned there that he tried both under Linux and under Windows). First, delete the game folder from My Documents (./steamapps/compatdata/ for Linux) and validate the game files in Steam - Library - Installed games - TAB - Preferences - Local content. At least twice in a row. For this game, as I understand it, validation should pass 100% - which means the second check should report 100% without downloading files (50% of games in Steam do not pass 100% verification due to protection). Steam Deck is Steam Proton - and this is Wine. Perhaps Wine Troubleshooting guide's on ProtonDB, WineDB, PCGW will help. And since SteamOS 3 is ArchLinux - Arch Wiki Troubleshooting guide.

this is for near Steam Deck russian crash issue. For Win difference is Admin Run for steam.exe (and do not use desktop links, there never work properly in Steam for all 22 years ignoring config arguments set by publisher for Launch config section, see steamdb info for reference)(launched directly from Steam games follow Admin run argument and everything else applied to steam.exe). Relaunch Steam as admin to validate the installation.
And instead of Linux Troubleshooting guide look to Windows Troubleshooting guide on PCGW, starting from They Are Billions dedicated article.

Reinstall the game can be useful too. But its important: reinstall are not equal to validation.

At first launch after validation Steam repeat finale config setup as it did after first installation. Stay at Admin Run mode for at least first launch.

do not turn off VirtualStore and UAC, let them stay at default state. Turning off UAC not make every games launched as admin. To be sure it did, set steam.exe admin run checkbox ✅ or RMB click - Run as Admin -> and click Yes on appeared confirmation promt.

Maybe would help set game or steam.exe in compatibility Disable Fullscreen optimisation and DPI by App.

Not sure how configure compatibility for non-latin symbols for Linux. For Windows for Japanese deffinetly need to set Non-Unicode settings to Japanese (or Chinese as more general?) in Regional Standards settings in OS. For me for russian/Cyrillic change whole OS to russian not required, but all MUI packs was downloded (as part of optional updates for Pro/+ editions of Winows).
Although, i dont think that would help. I did set to Cyrillic (while Windows installed and stay as EnUS version) cause im russian and still many apps/things/games are on russian for me and SOME of them have issues with text, in general that was useful for me. Not sure if that was required for TAB. Sometims i do play some japanese games ( :steammocking: 😉 ) and some of them work fine without changing settings.
If you more often use Japanese it would be useful in general to set japanese/chinese additional compatibility support for non-unicode apps, and not fact it is for TAB.
