Awful campaign balancing.
Wow. I'm actually quite amazed at how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t difficult and unforgiving the campaign is.
I've played a lot of the game, eagerly awaiting the campaign, I know how it works.
But things like the Infected Swarm levels with runner zombies just seem ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t hard, even on easier difficulties.
I can imagine quite a few people are going to be put off by how unrelenting the game is within the first 3 levels of the campaign. And it doesn't feel like a skill problem, it just feels off-putting.

Plays very much like survival mode, does it?
After you win a few matches you can unlock things in the tech tree. Then you play the next map and realise you should've really unlocked something else instead. Tough. You can't change the tech tree.
I'm actually quite amazed at how bad this is.
And i'm trying to enjoy.

The wave I had less problems with, but still failed the first attempt of the first mission because I did not reach the 400 population. And after the second try you damn need almost all the space there is available to put tents down to even get close to the population required and I barely beat it on second try on day 24.

I had expected the early missions more to ease you into the game at first and not slaughter you straight out of the box by having that large of a wave that even a complete 30 archers could not take out without having 3 layers of defensive walls to work with where the first 2 wall lines where demolished quite rapidly.

So I do agree with you there the campaign difficulty seems off, I do not mind brutal difficulty but certainly not from the first mission that mostly is used to teach you how to play the game and be a bit more forgiving.
mmmh looks like a git gud problem
It's true. Too difficult. It's a pity
There's a difference between difficulty and poor balance though.
The start of the game should be "easy", even on harder difficulties. It should be somewhat obvious, and teach the game to new players, building up harder and harder.
I'm a few missions in and just can't be bothered any more.
After all of these topics I hope They are Billions 2 will not become They are ten, so go kill em and we don't see you crying on forums.

I am playing on Brutal and had no problems yet except boring-♥♥♥ grindy mission, here is screenshot:

I'll have to try it out in a few hours. I anticipated it being tough, but this is a game you can't really take anyone's word on because what starts off as impossible the first time you try becomes a joke after a few trys.

I remember first time I beat the game on easy I was shocked at how hard it was then achievement hunting I tried a game on easy to get Max pop and I could not believe how easy it was.

oh look we have an elite player here that can finish and win every game he gets his hands on blindfolded and his thumgs screwed togather behind his back.

So please go back to your bloodborn or soulsgame with your git gud, as balance is needed for players to enjoy it and if they get overrun everytime without any breathing room for learning then they will just quit and leave a negative review.

And as said the starting balance of the campaign currently I see it as realy off putting, and we are not asking to make the game easier in the end, just to adjust the curve in the campaign. And if you do not like it stay in your survival games then.
^ This.
First map on 100% difficulty is pretty straight forward.
Do rangers, scout, clear the map, build a lot of hunters and fishers, everywhere you can. Spam houses everywhere, get some energy. You are 400 population before day 20.
I don't understand anything first mission !!!
Not enoug food
Day 20 : WTF !!!!

You're playing on Brutal? Well done.
I'm not. Obviously not everyone is that experienced and confident at the game.
What I'm saying is that the poor balance is going to put off everyone else.
Glad the elite players are enjoying it. Shame the rest aren't.
Oh ffs stop crying cause you suck I'm breezing throught 500% without any problem. As long as you understand the game mechanics your fine. And seriously this game is supposed to be roguelike even for campaign you should be punished for your bad decision choices. You can always start over its not like as you had finite lives...

First map i smashed easily, because I'm familiar with the game.
But even then, I was filling the map with hunters and fishers. It was ridiculous just how many I had to put down to complete the first level. It wasn't a good start.
