The new cues are much larger than the original ones covering up followup punches behind them with the biggest offender being the block icon which completely blocks from view followup punches directly after them.
with such a radical change to the primary program\human interface it should have been a setting to opt in. Instead it feels like a cheap and poorly implemented answer to beat saber that is taking steam by storm. I think wow factor was more the intent than functionality.
As someone who has had this game since last October I was devasted when they got rid of the paint balls. I couldn't play this game for a couple weeks, but being a core part of my workout routine I forced myself to play again eventually.
I have to say that after two weeks of playing again the new cues aren't bad. They look completely out of place anywhere but the space environment but now that I have switched to that world they don't look bad in my opinion.
I wish they were more colorfoul. The floor of the space level is lovely however, glowing all different colours and looks very pretty. The light constructed beams look cool as well.
Most importanly the collision detection seems rock solid right now. I completed all the Power workouts today and didn't miss a single cue, its working really nice.
The devs have said they are working on changing the cues in line with customer feedback so I will give them time to do that. In the meantime, although the game isn't as visceral and satisfying as it was with the paint balls it is still fully playable and will give you a great workout. Beats using my real fitness equipment any day!
