More Immersive Experience with Reshade (w/ screenshots)
My biggest issue with this remake (other than the 3D graphics) are the colors. They are god-awful, overly-bright pastel colors that make me want to puke. It looks like a child just figured out the basics of coloring on a computer using paint...

Using Reshade, I was able to achieve a look that I find more mature and natural looking. Plus, with LumaSharpening, I was able to bring out some textures that were ultimately hidden due to the overly saturated colors. Overall, it's darker and more detailed.

Check out my before and after. Make sure you zoom in to really see the difference

If your interested, here is a link to the file Reshade ini file.

If your not familar with Reshade, there's plenty of tutorials on youtube on how to use it.

Just incase that file link doesn't work... here are my settings.

wow that looks way better. is this a config file in the game that can be editted, or do i have to use that reshade program?
It looks fine but I can't understand how immersive could ever be used in the context of a game like this.

You download Reshade. Open it and follow the onscreen instructions. Download the same shaders I used (or ones of your choice) and then put that ini file in the same area as the rest of the reshade files and game files. Once your in game, you should see some text on the top left of your game. You know it's working if you do. Then press Shift+F2 to bring up the Reshade menu.

Again, Youtube is a good resource for how-to's.

To each their own I guess but I find the original colors are oversturated and too bright. You can literally see more detail in the textures because of my rework of the colors. The game is actually more detailed than I thought.
Just installed reshade and it's a must.OP settings are great. atm I use secref of fada v2.

Thanks! Yeah I think Reshade makes a huge difference here. Brings out much more detail and darkens up some of the colors. Especially that wretched green they had before:steamfacepalm:
Needs more brown and bloom.
I think this looks awful. But it's quite interesting what difference reshade can make. :D
*shrugs* if you like it. Honestly the snes game tried to have cute child like graphics to give the air of a child's adventure.
the remake graphics capture that better.
The SNES version was bright and pastel throughout. While i think your shading looks just fine, it is *not* SoM. Just take a look at the minimap on your own shots - the minimap is the original game map. The colors match quite well between the original map and the remake's map. In your reshaded version, it looks *very* unlike the original game.

I mean, don't get me wrong, mod the game to your heart's content. I certainly mod everything i can get my hands on. But to disparage the graphics like you have just doesn't make a lot of sense when they're as close to the original as they are.

Are you sure about that? When I look at the remake (without Reshade) I see super bright, saturated greens. Look again. Look at the difference between the trees in the original and the remake... like not even in the same ballpark.

Using Reshade to turn the color saturation down and darken everything up, brings out WAY more detail in the textures as well. Notice the grass, trees, rocks, river bottom? Way more detail.

Another thing you need to come to terms with is this is more of a reimagining than a faithful remake. If this were a faithful remake, the director would of stuck with the 2D art style but updated it for 1080P/4K.

You people really need to go back and play the original to see how botched this "remake" is.
As an example of a 2D remake done right, look at "The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition".
