Using the Launcher
We noticed that we hadn't put any information about using the BATTLETECH launcher on the forums, so we wanted to pass some along! Hopefully you'll find this to be helpful.

How to Access
Steam
Go to the game's installation folder and open the game from its executable (BattleTechLauncher.exe)

GOG
Open the "More" menu next to the Play button and choose Other -> Configure BATTLETECH

Changing the Video Player
Once you've accessed the launcher, you can make the player changes in the "Video Player" tab. After the player is done making the changes, Save and then Play directly from the launcher or Save and then play from the GOG or Steam client.

Using the Launcher to Troubleshoot
Try using the Launcher to configure the following options before launching the game: Borderless Windowed Mode, Exclusive Fullscreen Mode, Video Rendering API.
We recommend using these options for troubleshooting if you are experiencing hardware or software compatibility issues. The launcher also includes a new automatic crash reporting tab.

Forgive my ignorance, but I had noticed this but I could not determine what the benefit would be to actually use the alternate video player. Is there a performance difference? Under what conditions would one want to select it, given a standard installation?

If your video/cutscenes are not working properly ( has happened to some people ) this gives an alternative to try.

Ok, thanks.

I have not had that problem, and subsequently had not perceived that the alternate player could fix that.

But if I do, now I know! And the rest of the forum does too! In this sticky!

I feel as if my ignorance has contributed to greatness!

Hi,
Tried changing the video player, as suggested, and still get the same error.
Really wearing me down and frustrating me.

Unfornatly this thread seems not apply to the linux version, as there is no launcher.
