Portal 2 still crashing .....

Hello,

I saw before I was not the only one to experience it, but none of the solution proposed works.
My problem is very simple :
Portal 2 launches alright, but whenever I try starting a game, at the end of the loading screen, it simply crashes.

If I check the files, it says one of them is broken and will be downloaded again.Then it's OK if I check the integrity again, and when I start a new game, it crashes at the loading screen again.
One more thing : when I launch the game after the files integrity is OK, it says something like "finalizing installation".

This game has been out for a while now, I bought it FULL PRICE and couldn't play it before. Is there a solution or did I waste my money ?????? (or will Valve give me my money back ?)

FINALLY! Someone with the same problem, been looking for a soulution for this.
My copy of portal 2 was doing the exact same thing, tried validating files, defraging the game, updating drivers, didn't do a thing. So I tried uninstalling ALL of steam and download portal again (already tried just redownloading, didn't work), i don't know if this helped fix it, but i was invited to play a game by a friend and co-op worked fine, we finish up and I played some solo which worked till i got to chapter 3 (had to get off) next time I try starting it up, same problem as before. thanks for your comments ! I hope they will fix it, after something like one year, I wouldn't think that kind of bug could exist anymore, considering I'm apparently not an isolated case ...

i fixed it by veryifying my files integrity

unfortunately it doesn't work for me, each time I launch the game, apparently the files get corrupted again. Don't know why...

I have same problem, click single-player, game crashes, co-op loads fine

i have a problem where the menu and loading are fine, but the moment the game start it black screens and i get a massive sound lag and thats it......

I opened a ticket, support gave me stuff to check/install, but it doesn't do the trick. I'll post it here shortly, if that can help
