HELP WITH MICROPHONE!

i need help! my microphone is being glitchy, because i was in portal and playing but the whole time my voice was coming back at me!
only when i turned off my mic did it stop!
i could also hear my partners things even though he doesnt have a mic!
what do i do!?!?!?

Your mic was coming back at you because whoever you were playing with probably had an open mic and speakers, sending your voice back at you and enabling you to hear them.

If your friend buys some headphones, it would solve this problem,
or if they disable their "non-existent" mic.

i did that, but i also realized my mic is way too sensitive.
i tried both of those, and it didnt work.

If you have an mic i recommend to not use the speakers for sound. Me and my friends had this feedback issues too, we just bought some headphones and the problem went away.

If he don't have a mic that means he is using a laptop computer, every laptops i have seen have buildt in mic. It is possible to disable/enable it thru the control panel under catagory sound.

You'r mic is not glitching, it is doing what it's supposed todo, it records every sounds it can hear.

When i am playing with someone i newer use my speakers, I always use a headset when playing online to not produce the echo or broadcast my computer sounds.
