"Early bird" free DLC
I found this on the official website:

"Buy Outcast - Second Contact now in the stores listed below and receive the Golden Weapons Pack (DLC) and the Outcast Original Soundtrack. If you buy the game on Steam within 7 days from launch, you'll receive a 15% discount for the game, the DLC and the Digital Deluxe Edition (Base game + DLC). If you already have Outcast 1.1 in your Steam library, you'll receive an additional 30% discount on the above."

I bought the retail version (comes with a Steam key of course) from a retailer that was listed there and I did not get the Golden Weapons Pack and the soundtrack.

Interesting, I bought it through steam and no golden weapons.

the golden weapons were DLC I thought. I got them anyhow - I'm happy to support.

Well, my idea of support was to buy the game in retail first because I like DVD cases with nice covers + this way I did not have to buy the game super cheap with the 1.1 discount. :)

Anyway maybe they will give out this stuff once the one week passes?

Edit: Also just some FYI regarding the retail release: you don't get your Steam key from the case, instead you have to insert the DVD into the drive and the setup will show you your key. I know a lot of people no longer have DVD drives in their machines so just keep this in mind if you're one of those guys.

Bump. Any update on this?

For the steam version, you don't get free stuff, you get discount on dlc.
For retailer physical copy, you should contact retailer to get your stuff

I really shouldn't though. Oh well, I don't care, I have the soundtrack from another release of the game already and I couldn't care less about golden skins.

The information does seem odd.

https://outcastthegame.com/buy-outcast

When I select "PC" under choose your platform, I see the following.

English language site...

"Buy Outcast - Second Contact now and receive the Golden Weapons Pack (DLC) and the Outcast Original Soundtrack for free. Limited time offer. Only available on participating stores. If you buy the game on Steam within 15 days from launch, you'll receive a 15% discount for the game, the DLC and the Digital Deluxe Edition (Base game + DLC). If you already have Outcast 1.1 in your Steam library, you'll receive an additional 30% discount on the above.

CHOOSE YOUR COUNTRY - USA

CHOOSE YOUR RETAILER - STEAM"

There is also a large graphic next to the text window that says...

"GOLDEN WEAPONS PACK
BUY NOW AND GET IT FOR FREE"

I went as far as translating the French text on their site and it says essentially the same thing, so it's not a translational error.

French language site...

CHOISISSEZ VOTRE PAYS - USA

CHOISISSEZ VOTRE REVENDEUR - STEAM"

Translated ENGLISH

"Buy now Outcast - Second Contact to get free DLC "Golden Weapons Pack" and Outcast Original Soundtrack. Limited time offer, valid only at participating stores. On Steam, a 15% discount will be available on the game, DLC or Digital Deluxe Edition (Game + DLC) within two weeks of the game's release. If you already own Outcast 1.1, you'll get 30% off additional.

CHOOSE YOUR COUNTRY - USA

CHOOSE YOUR RESELLER - STEAM"

The way I am reading this... If I buy the game on Steam I should be getting Outcast - Second Contact and receiving the Golden Weapons Pack (DLC) and Outcast Original Soundtrack for free. (I bought on first day). The only retailer displayed for PC in the USA is Steam.

Yeah, the website definitely states Steam under the info about the free DLC. Kind of weird that the devs don't respond to this.

Okay, so I get it that people these days are consumers and are used to getting what they want and feel they ‘deserve’ - but we need to be happy that this game was even re-made in the first place.

Why not just enjoy the game, instead of focusing on something trivial?

This remake is stunning. I adored this game back in 1999, and the remake is so well done that I feel like I’m playing Outcast again for the first time. Look at the 1999 version of the game - then look at the remake. It’s astonishing. It’s exactly the same game, visually, and yet it’s not. I was expecting a minor upgrade, not a complete overhaul.

I don't feel like deserving it and honestly I only care about the soundtrack. I think it's just weird that they have a promotion on their own website with no indication of it as soon as you're in the Steam store.
If it never happends, oh well. Too bad, I didn't purchase the game because of that. An official response would be great though.

In regards to all this, I sent an email two days ago to what I believe to be a contact at their publisher, Bigben Interactive.

I directed them to this discussion.

I am just awaiting a response.

Oh, okay. I'm glad you explained that - because it looks like the developer isn't going to make much money on this, and that's a shame.

Those of us who loved the original game need to appreciate what we have here. I mean, just look at the YouTube videos of the original game. I was blown away by Outcast in 1999 - but looking at it from the perspective of 2017 I'm surprised at how rudimentary it was.

The remake rekindles within me the same excitement I felt for this game when I first played it. I'm surprised that the developer of the remake was able to make me feel this way. I reluctantly bought this game - and, quite frankly, I was 95% certain I was going to refund it.

I LOVE this game.
