Coach Gun vs. Shotgun
Why would you ever use the Coach Gun when the Shotgun does way more damage, can shoot more before having to reload, and has two extra shells total over the Coach Gun's max ammo? The only downside is barely lower range.

But that kind of stuff usually works only when double barrel guns deal more damage than standard shotguns.

As it stands, coachgun is significantly underpowered, when compared to regular shotgun, because it's still faster to refire shotgun, than to reload coachgun.

Coach gun has a bit more range, like you said.

"Coach Gun" sounds more refined and sophisticated.

You're not just trying to save the world. You're trying to save the world with class.

There's an armour set you can get which increases the amount of damage the first shot does after reloading. This makes the coach gun beast.

No doubt this will make it work, but Coach Gun kind of sucks butt as a starter item for the Ex-Cultist. If you're going to make a build that revolves around mods, you need a gun that can shoot many times without constant reloading for it to work properly.

the coach gun has less spread also so the pellets hit more accurately at range

Shotty is my friend. You can't have Shotty. Shotty is MINE!

Not tested but it feels like coach gun fires more often over time, even including the reload.

Coach Gun fires two shots faster than the Shotgun and you re-load it while rolling/dodging.

Shotgun honestly only seems to out perform it in cases where you're not under a lot of pressure and can maximize uptime while up close to a target.

So I've done a run-through of the campaign pretty much using shotguns as much as possible only switching out to a rifle or pistol for some bosses. From my experience is the coach gun has a tighter spread and slightly more damage but I'm always reloading it and with every boss fight have adds rushing you on top of the boss attacks I've found the reload to be my death so I took the shotgun solely due to the 7 shot mag that I can stop the reload and shoot at any time. The damage difference isn't that major nor the range at 1m and the spread isn't too bad if you're already used to the coach gun.

Coachgun has less spread I believe, the accuracy is double that of the shotgun.
