Linux?
Any chance of the developers worrying about making a few Penguins and Linus Torvalds have a huge smile on their faces this time?

I'm running Linux on hardware released this year playing games like Deus EX...

The Graphics API is supported on Linux, so you're more than half way there. Please support Linux.

The chances of Bethesda supporting Linux is next to nill.
Maybe they can work together with Feral Interactive for this port?

Would be very cool.

Since it is clear that Bethesda and Zenimax have no interest in supporting Linux, I would go with a big fat ZERO chance they will make a Linux version.

Who knows? As others have stated above half of the work is already done, since they used Vulkan as their graphical api. So it wouldnt be so hard for them to port it to Linux.

The Question is are they willing to get their hands a little bit more dirty, to get more sales?

Lets keep our fingers crossed.

If they were going to get into Linux gaming, then they would have started with Doom or even Dishonored 2. Remember this is the company that bought id software and had them stop making Linux versions.

So yeah, zero chance Linux is coming.

I'm pretty confident that at some point a Linux version will be in the offing. I wouldn't expect it soon though.

What makes you confident that Zenimax/Bethesda are going to get into Linux when they had id software stop making Linux versions?

I 100% gaurantee there will not be a Linux version.

Never say never. I would have said the same (guilty) if someone told me ten years ago that Steam would come to Linux.

What makes you say that? AFIK, Bethesda has never shown any interest in Linux.

Oh, they've shown an interest in Linux alright. An interest in seeing people move away from it. For some unknown reason, the powers that be at Bethesda/Zenimax absolutely hate Linux. It's almost to the point where one has to wonder if Linus showed up and urinated in their cornflakes.

So until all those guys die/retire/whatever and they get some people that actually see a point in supporting more than just windows, we'll never see a port. Even if that happens, the wolfenstein games will be so old and forgotten that it wouldn't be worth it to port them. At some point in the far off future, we may see it go GPL and the community port it over like what happened with Doom 3 BFG, but even that is probably pretty unlikely.
